Really you guys, calm down. TT has shown he won't over pay. Maybe we won't get the top FAs, but we have enough room to sign all our guys if we want. There is alot of time left and most of the contracts announced are too high. Teams fell in love with a player, and the Browns and Vikings are both trying to play like the Redskins and buy a championship.

You build through the draft. I'm sure if TT thought we were just a few players away, hed make that happen, but lets face it, if the Walker thing blows up in our face, and Favre retires, only 4 of our starters are safe. Driver, Franks, Tauscher and Clifton. The rest of the offense is a mess. Sure I think Rodgers will work, but the first year or two will be painful.

On the Defense, Kampman, Harris, Barnett, and Collins are the 4. I don't think Grady will be back, so who knows what will emerge there. Carroll is a waste, Roman is adequate at best and KGB should be a pass rush specialist.

I know we're way under the cap, but you can't replace 14 starters in FA.

Just relax. I have a feeling GB will be playing in the 6-10 to 8-8 range this year and improve slowly. Say 3 years from now, I think the Pack will be able to make a push. Not with Favre either.

I'm sorry if you think they should be doing that now. It's not going to happen. Years of bad drafts and FA misses have left the cupboard mighty bare. Quit calling for TTs head on a platter until his drafts can start paying divedends. You can't fix this team overnight.

Everyone here needs to read this post, I wish this would be stickied but its only an opinoin. *sigh* We are going to need to be patient because Sherman also lost us two of our picks and T-Murph is probably done but if we keep getting depth through the draft and signing guys like Manuel. The important thing is that A-Rod developes and the Coaches/Systems are good. With that in place TT can find quality and depth. Look at the Pats, they have good depth and a good QB and system and coaches, it doesnt matter who goes down. They dont have any huge super stars and anyone can fill in.

He's not dormant, just methodical.

Kampman was a priority from day 1. Im sure he has other careful plans in motion. Lets see how Pickett works out. Manuel is good depth. I think he's probably about on par with Roman. You do realize that with the cap at close to 100 mil and a 53 man roster, a 2 mil cap # isn't so bad. Especially if he DOES come in and prove to be an improvement over Roman.

It sounds like you're making excuses for him already. Not the best way to start the season. Not giving us much to look forward to this year. Every year should be addressed the same, and that's to win a championship. If you have any other goal, you shouldn't be in this league.

Winning the Super Bowl is not always a reasonable goal. Sure everyone wants to do it, but be realistic.

The salary cap situation was a mess when Thompson got here. If he hadn't come in and cleaned house last year, we'd be talking about having to cut Favre or something ridiculous because we'd have problems like the Jets.

Those moves hurt. Both Wahle, Rivera, and Sharper had to go. So did Hunt and Diggs.

EVERYONE wants the top FAs, just like EVERYONE would love to have the top 5 picks in the draft every year. It can't happen. Especially coming off a 4-12 year with Favre possibly on his way out.

I would wager if Favre had said, "Sure, I'll come back for another year", we'd get more FA visits. What do the Packers have to offer other than $? Not that much.

He'll make some moves, get some decent players, and hopefully draft well again.

Something to keep in mind:

Are the Patriots ever big players in FA?

How about the Steelers?

The Colts?

The Seahawks?

The Eagles?

let's see...... no, no, no, no and... no.

Hmmm.... I find that very interesting.

We could have gotten Wahle for a song and dance last year, compared to what Hutch will get this year.

The goal should be a championship (NFC North.) That's always your first goal. 2nd goal, NFC Champions. 3rd goal, Superbowl.

At least TT's learning. Sign your guys. He signed Kampy, now if he signs Gravy, we have a good start. Like I said, if you have good players, you have to keep them. So maybe TT's learning.

Still, I need to see some dramatic improvements, which shouldn't be too hard after he gutted the team last year. You know, I've never been a huge Sharper fan, but what do you think the safety tandem of Sharper and Collins would have been like?

Keep dreaming of a better tomorrow. If that's what you want, so be it. I want a better today. I hope it happens. I want the Pack to be successful.

What is it about sneaky, middle-aged, greying men that makes you drool so? Talk about your man-crushes...gadzooks!!!

I'm qualifying my statement by saying this was a joke to prevent you from getting all wound-up.

Why is it we'd have to cut Favre again? Because we wouldn't have enough $$$ this year? That's rediculous. All it would have taken was some creative financing. We have plenty of money this year. It had nothing to do with $$$ other than TT wanting to put his stamp on the team. If it did have something to do with money, then TT should go back to working drafts and let a real GM take over. We weren't hurting that bad last year, and we have too much this year. Chances are, we won;t spend it this year either. Quite frankly, I'm not sure how TT got this job, other than being good at drafting.

Actually.

The Eagles signed TO and Jevon Kearse while the Seahawks signed Jamie Sharper and Andre Dyson.

With the Colts bringing in Cory Simon

First, TO was a trade, not a FA.

Second, You make my point. 1 or 2 players to get over the hump.

Nope, we cut him. He didn't really want to come back.

TO might as well been a FA.

There was no way in Hell that he was playing in San Fran. next year. Laughing
