Im not sure if theres any qb in the nfl right now who could be very successfull with the scheme/playcalling/overall coaching mistakes we have now |
Some people overreact, but this season is alarming. Saying "we've got to get better" just doesn't cut it after it's been 9 weeks. He's missing guys badly at times and other times they aren't coming through for him.
I'm really questioning how well Newton throws on the move. It doesn't seem that he makes ad lib plays very often while moving out of the pocket.
Also, it doesn't seem that the offense runs many timing routes like hitches and back shoulder throws. The only one I think of is the Jennings INT, which speaks to how risky it can be if you aren't accurate. I think defenses know that Newton only throws to receivers running some sort of crossing/ post route where the ball is put in front of them. That makes a world of difference for a CB to cover a WR knowing he doesn't have to worry about anything backside.
It's rare that you see Newton make a throw before the WR makes his cut because, I think, Newton relies on seeing the receivers open and gunning it in. |

I sat down and watched the game on DVR today and I actually think the offensive play calling was okay. It wasn't wasteful read option, it was just the o-line getting destroyed all game. The defense did about all one can do against Manning.
Our offensive line needs legit help. They are getting destroyed against every legitimate pass rush we play.
Another thing is we aren't putting our play makers on the damn field. Joe Adams should be returning punts, end of story. HE IS OUR TRINDON HOLIDAY.
Gettis only saw snaps at the end of the game, Sherrod Martin is still only in rotation. |
