We should set an over/under or how many games it'll be before they resign Smith.

Interesting. I wonder if some of the reason is because he was with the Packers for so long, trying to get some info. I would say talent wise it was bad CB for bad CB.

Still, I would at least keep another body around with the rate our CBs are falling off the shelf.

Yep not really understanding this move. Maybe Routt was looking for more money/years or maybe the organization didn't like his attitude.

I think the Lions brought him in because they think he can be a better contributor on special teams. He also has pretty good size. The article spoke pretty favorably about Pat Lee. Maybe this will turn into another one of Martin Mayhew's under-the-radar moves that pays out-isized dividends to the team. He is younger that Stanford Routt also. |

| I saw the game that got him cut against the Bucs and he was bad. He let Martin break free for two of his long TD runs. Hopefully he will turn it around and add something to our team. |

I doubt it, he's been charged with felony DUI.

Sooo . . . has he ever been effective anywhere other than special teams? Was he even ever effective on special teams, for that matter? Head-scratcher of a move as far as I'm concerned, I mean I'm no Alphonso Smith fan, but at least he's contributing and knows the defense in and out by this point in time. Lee will have to spend a few weeks catching up, and that's assuming he's actually here for any reason other than special teams.
Why not just look at Routt? He's at least been good before even if he's played like crap all year. It's not like Lee has any more upside.

| I like this sigining, but I don't think it means we should ignore Routt, would be nice to bring him in and even sign both players. |
