Hey guys. had a question. Can Cedric Benson come back and play this year or is he on season ending IR? If not, what week is he eligible to come back? Thank you! |

He was put on IR with the designated to return label. He has to be on IR for at least 8 weeks so he'll be eligible to return week 12. _________________

And from what I'm gleaning he is coming along nicely too so unless he has a set-back he'll return for week 12 and not a moment too soon. |

Hard to say. The line was (is) very below avg at run blocking.
He's been the best we've had though.
The Numbers:
ATT YRDS Y/C Long
Benson: 71 248 3.5 11
Green: 87 272 3.1 41
Starks: 23 80 3.5 14
Kuhn: 11 39 3.5 9
Cobb: 6 96 16.0 28
Rodgers: 35 162 4.6 25
Very pedestrian across the board. Would like to see Cobb touch the ball more out of the backfield, and Rodgers #'s are polluted by scrambles for 0 yrds and kneel downs so take that with a grain of salt.
As for the runningbacks, it's kind of sad when you don't have a better YPC than your fullback...
But Benson did look good(relatively speaking) when he was out there. _________________

Benson was by far the most effective back we've had all year. His vision is top notch and he picked up the hard yards, rarely tripping on his feet and falling down for a 2 yard gain. I always felt he never left any yards on the field after a game, unlike Green. _________________

He ran better than any of other RBs. He was averaging about his career average when he got hurt. |

I'd like fewer carries from Cobb to be honest. Eventually it won't work.
As for Benson, he was getting that 3.5 by actually getting about 3.5 per carry. The rest can and do lose yards. All I ask of the running game is to get positive yards. He does the best job of it. _________________ GO PACK GO!

I just saw this tidbit going through a NFL fantasy waiver wire report.
Michael Fabiano wrote: | 6. James Starks, RB, Green Bay Packers (76.9 percent):
The Packers appear to be done with Alex Green in a featured role, as Starks led the team with 17 carries and 61 rushing yards against the Arizona Cardinals. Green Bay was on a bye last week, so Starks remains a free agent in most fantasy leagues. Remember, Cedric Benson can't return until Week 14. |
What gives? Another talking head that doesn't know what he's talking about, or are we wrong with our week 12 ideas? _________________

Week 12 is when he can return to practice, but he cannot play in a game until week 14. |

As long as we have Benson come playoff time, I'm good!
Will view that as one of the better value contracts on the team this year if that's how it plays out. TT also made a good choice by not taking his money. There was a line in his deal that played out with a large money pull should Benson go on the IR. Having a happy Benson that feels the team is on his side could pay off large later on IMO. |

This is my hope as well. Comes back in time to get his reps before the playoffs, helps us win a Super Bowl, then resigns with us for a market friendly 3 year deal.
I'm an Alex Green supporter but the difference between him and Benson right now is night and day. With Ced in their we are just a completely different Offense. _________________

2010 parallels-
Sloppy and rocky start
Team riddled with injuries
RB who no one is talking about comes in late season to give us a new dimension
No one is talking about us
Falcons are the #1 seed
Defense really coming together
Oh yeah, and Aaron was a great QB in 2010 and is now the best in the NFL hands down.
Starting to get exciting. _________________
