For this upcoming offseason, you get to choose one free agent for the Bears to sign for each position. Cause I'm super bored.

Be somewhat mindful of the cap, dont say the top player for every position.

(Just for fun, you dont actually decide a future Chicago Bear, BEARS24)

2013 Free Agents:
(NAME/HEIGHT/WEIGHT/PREV. TEAM/AGE)

QB's:
We won't sign a FA QB.

RB's:Isaac Redman-6'0" 230, Pittsburgh Steelers, 27

I think he's the odd man out of the bunch in Pitt, but he's also the one I like the best. I think Pitt likes Dwyer better to replace Mendenhall. I could see us bringing him in if the price is right.

WR's:Danny Amendola-5'9" 188, St. Louis Rams, 27

I really like this guy. Look at what he's done with Sam Bradford throwing him the ball. He makes all the catches and plays with a ton of heart. With Marshall doing what he does and Alshon looking to be what we all thought he was capable of being, I would really love bringing Amendola in. He can clear the safeties out on every play, and he will punish you if you don't cover him.

TE's:Jared Cook Jr.-6'5" 248, Tennessee Titans, 25

This is the clear choice, but I don't see it happening.

OT

Ryan Clady-6'5" 315, Denver Broncos, 26

While we'd all love Jake Long, Clady is the more realistic option and I could see him coming in on a 3 year backloaded deal.

OG's:
I think the Bears are content with Louis and Rachal, and this money will be spent on extending Melton/Louis.

C's:

We are more likely to pick someone up in the draft to develop for cheap.

DL:
Nate Collins-6'2" 296, Chicago Bears, 24

I think the Bears coaching staff likes what they see in this guy, he's young, and he should be cheap. I could see us signing him for about 3 years.

LB's:

Nick Roach-6'1" 234, Chicago Bears, 27
Brian Urlacher-6'3" 258, Chicago Bears, 34

CB's:
I'll forego selecting a CB because I don't think we'll sign one, and I picked two LB's.

S's:
We'll stick with Wright and Conte and maybe find an UDFA or a 7th rounder to develop.

Finally someone answers it. CSG, youd go Collins over Melton?

To be quite honest, I didn't even see Melton in the list, though I knew he was a free agent and should have thought of it at the time.

The common sense in me says that we need to resign Melton immediately, but at the same time, we haven't seen very much of Collins, and we are talking about D-Linemen here.

I don't want you to think that I'm undervaluing the D-Line, they're obviously a very important part of the gameplan, but I feel that they are more easily replaced than your franchise left tackle, quarterback, running back, etc.

I think if Melton's asking price is too high, we let him walk without having second thoughts about it.

Not a chance IMO…the UT position is the most important in this D…letting a guy who has averaged 2 QBP a game as well as over a sack every 2 games and has made a massive improvement in his run D at only 26 years old isn’t a guy you let walk…if we can’t get a contract agreed he will be tagged...

Speaking of Melton's run D it's crazy to think he has more total tackles this year in 8 games than he had last season in 15.

It's for the reasons you say here that I think DJ Moore will be playing elsewhere next year. Melton will be a positional priority and we have other less replaceable pieces up for a new deal either this or next offseason (Cutler, Melton, Louis, Tillman and possibly Urlacher in the short term). Don't want to lose him but you can't keep everyone in a salary cap league when you have guys paid top dollar at every premium position but LT.

I have a lot of faith in Cliff Stein to get deals done to resign all the guys we want to but as you said we have a lot of money tied up in more important spots and as good as Stein in there is only so much money to go around plus we have guys on the roster who can already play the NB spot if DJ isn’t resigned.

Ryan Clady is getting franchise tagged so the Denver reunion stuff is a pipe dream.

Give me Sebastian Vollmer, a solid OT when healthy, and then I do the OL shuffle.

LT Vollmer
LG Rachal/2nd round pick
C Garza
RG Louis
RT Carimi/Webb

RT Carimi/Webb

I like Vollmer but I'm not sure he could play LT for the simple fact that NE didn't feel he could...

If we are going after a new LT this offseason then Bushrod would be a solid pick up IMO.

Give me Sebastian Vollmer, a solid OT when healthy, and then I do the OL shuffle.

LT Vollmer
LG Rachal/2nd round pick
C Garza
RG Louis
RT Carimi/Webb

He has never really had a chance to play LT as they had Matt Light and then drafted Solder.

The convinient part about Vollmer is the way things are shaping up we will need a RT too.

Yeah but that's my point...as soon as Light retired the Pats didn't feel they could try Vollmer at LT as his replacement...they went straight out in the 1st round and took Solder.

That is an assumption maybe Solder was the highest ranked player on their board and they could not pass.

We need to do something whether it is Vollmer or Bushrod, because OT is our Achilles heel and is what I think keeps us from a deep playoff run.
