I'm of the belief that there are plenty of coaches in the NFL that are capable of coaching a team to a Super Bowl, granted that coaches just coach. There are plenty of coaches that could consistently win in the NFL if they had no personnel input and were working in hand with a top talent evaluator at GM because in the end it's the players that play and the teams with the most talent are the ones that win the most games.

I also disagree when you say he is a unique personality, he is very Similar to Jim Harbaugh. They are both passionate, opinionated and polarizing. Not fantastic X's and O's guys but know their trade and their players love to play for them. They get 100% out of their players.

Jim Harbaugh is the coach Rex Ryan wishes he was in terms of leading a team. All the stuff Rex Ryan talks about - being the league's bully, building a team with an elite defense and "ground and pound" on offense, being able to go any place at any point during the season and control a football game. Playing with unmatched intensity every week for 60 minutes. That's what the 49ers are, it's what the Jets have never been able to consistently develop into. The players may love Rex Ryan, but that's different from getting everything out of players each and every week and the Jets rarely maximize their potential on game days.

Rex Ryan transcends what it means to be a "player's coach". It's almost as if players view him as one of them. There's nothing like it with any other franchise in the league, and when it works it completely galvanizes the team, but when it doesn't the results can be disastrous. [/quote]
