Are you still in the Twin Cities area? What Walmart did you go to? |
Oh no. I'm back in Georgia. Got home on Tuesday after 38 days up there. I went to the small one in my hometown. |
They had a bunch of games at Target. Madden 13, Max Payne 3, Skyrim and others for $35. Assassins Creed 3 was $60 but it came with a $20 gift card. I got a bunch of Blurays for $2-9 at Walmart and just like you the lines were pretty much empty. I went thursday night at about 8 and everyone was crowded by the TVs and stuff waiting till 9 so the lines were empty. _________________

Anyone know of any reasonable deals on DVD players? Wife and I were looking for a cheap Blu-Ray if we could find one, but the best was around $80.
We'd be pleased with just a nice DVD player, perhaps something that plays in 1080p.
Anyone find any deals for one around $40-50? _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Wal-Mart has a refurbished Vizio Blu-Ray player online for $40. They also have a few other new BRD players for $50-$60 _________________

Yup. My parents have a Vizio Blu-Ray player. Had it for a few years now. _________________

Their TV's are. I'd be willing to take the risk for that price. Referbs come with a new warranty. _________________

I like the picture on Sharp TV's. Can't really go wrong with Samsung either. With those deals, Insignia falls way short. They're not bad TV's, but Sharp and Samsung are top of the food chain. _________________

does the fact that the Insignia has a 120Hz refresh rate mean anything, or is that insignificant?
the Sharp is more in the price range i'd like to spend, but if the Samsung is worth its higher price, then... _________________

Personally I think anything setup in 120hz refresh looks terrible. It looks fake. Blu-Ray, HD TV, and most other things run at 24hz. Stuff in 120 looks forced to me, like it's moving too fast, and unnatural. It has a smoother look when things are moving really fast on screen, and some people like it better. I actually turn it down on my TV.
Your best bet is to go to Best Buy, and watch the displays. See which you prefer. Sharp has brighter colors, and a more natural look. Samsung has really rich colors. Insignias look good, but not quite as good as the other two. A lot is based on preference, so it's worth seeing in person.
Just noticed the Sharp isn't an LED, and the others are. It does make a difference. LED's are going to be brighter, and sharper. The colors are going to look better too. _________________

yeah, i intend to. this is all pre-shopping to narrow it down and see what the manufacturers have put out on sale.
