There is a legitimate chance that at least one of these guys will be available with our 2nd round selection. Out of the following list, who do you see falling into our lap. Give some reason why.
Keenan AllenJustin Hunter
Robert Woods
Cordarrelle Patterson
DeAndre Hopkins
Tavon Austin
Terrence Williams
Markus Wheaton
Da'Rick Rogers
Aaron Dobson
I think there is a chance that Austin and/or Da-Rick Rogers will be available there. The former, because of he isn't the prototypical outside the numbers WR, and the latter because he has character issues.
Edit:The more I watch Justin Hunter, the more I want him in Blue and Gold. |
I think all of these guys last until the 2nd round. I like Hunter as well. He's an amazing athlete and not nearly as raw as Patterson. That being said I think he goes round 1 and I'm hoping for line help in round 1.
I would be happy with us drafting any of the guys I bolded in the 2nd round. |

Add me to that list. I think T. Williams is going to be outstanding pro and already has the best hands in the draft IMO. Deep routes, he is amazing. Does he need help with most other routes? Sure, but he has everything you'd want in your WR; speed, size, athleticism, and great hands.
He definitely in my top 3 and I would LOVE to get him with our 2nd rounder. Would be a steal. In this super deep WR draft, anything could happen. _________________

Marquess Wilson is going to be a big time steal for someone. So damn smooth and natural. If his head is right, look out. _________________ Wishlist for 2013: WR, FS, OL, OLB |

Mind elaborating for us who are "too high" on Terrance Williams?
What are his supposed issues? Are they correctable? What's his ceiling as a player? What things does he do well? Where would you draft him? How good do you think he'll be in the NFL?
I'm fine with people disagreeing but if you are, explain your stance. _________________

I rate TW as a 2nd rounder. I know you know your WR prospects (Wheaton for example), but when I watch clips of TW I come away unimpressed and wonder what you're seeing. Here's a brief overview:
The good - well, he's a natural athlete has the straight-line speed to run away from people. He's got a great frame and strength to come down with a ball or shield defenders off.
The not-so-sure - The hands. I've seen him pluck some balls well and catch some with his body. It's a wash.
The bad - Even with a good frame, he isn't as physical as you would think a 6'2" 205 WR should be. You posted a couple of his highlight clips and for as great of an athlete as he is, I can't figure how come he can't make the 1st guy miss after the catch. The WVU game for example - a couple of times after a completion if he would've bounced it outside where he had room to run, he could've had a nice gain. However, he caught the ball and sat down (no YAC). I wonder if he doesn't like to fight for the extra yardage or if he even has the agility/quickness to be able to do it in the NFL.
I also think his route running is pretty poor. And yes, I know he plays in a gimmicky offense at Baylor and he'll learn to run NFL routes in the NFL, but if you're taking a WR in the 1st round, don't you want some polish? These things concern me. I just don't see a potentially elite guy. _________________ Wishlist for 2013: WR, FS, OL, OLB |

Hands aren't an issue at all. I don't think a lot of people know what body-catching is or when/why it's a negative. You're supposed to let the ball into your "frame" or "body" when you're making catches in traffic because it makes it harder for the defender to dislodge it or knock it away.
What you're not supposed to do is try to catch the ball using your body...meaning you're not supposed to let the ball hit your pads or your stomach. You need to be catching it with your hands. And that's not at all an issue for Williams. He's very natural at plucking the football.

He's not a big time YAC WR but he can make some plays after the catch...but yea, that's not a strength. He does fight for yardage though when it's necessary.
His route running is poor but he wasn't really asked to run the full route tree at Baylor so it's to be expected.
Do you want some polish? Depends. I want a guy who can separate and has strong hands. Route running is coachable if they have the right skills.
Do you consider Cordarrelle Patterson a 1st round pick? _________________

Quinton Patten is really catching my attention. He looks like a bigger Victor Cruz!
