LeSean McCoy has just two red-zone touchdowns this season.
Quote:
McCoy has been underutilized all year, especially around the end zone. For example, the Eagles had eight goal-to-go plays in Monday's loss to the Saints, but handed the ball to McCoy just once. Last season, he racked up 14 red-zone touchdowns on his way to 20 overall scores.

Biggest problem.

I'd rather give it to McCoy three straight times than attempt to throw it even once.

This. Vick taking drop backs in the red zone scare the crap out of me. I cringe every time we call a pass play inside the 20.

Especially an empty backfield set

Some disgusting stats:

Eagles out scored 7-6 with the ball in the redzone.
Eagles ran 20 plays in the redzone, 3 runs.
Eagles had 20 RZ plays for -24 yards.

Laughing

These alone call for a clean house.

I'm done with Reid and this staff officially.

This was against the worst defense of all of human history.

We got close to the yardage, it was the tricky task of scoring points that overcome us

Really hate beating this horse but it's just too far from being dead yet:

Teams simply don't respect Vick's ability to throw to the right.
Look how much space Maclin has... that's ridiculous! That should be an automatic screen to Maclin. He has 1 man to beat, or go around, or at worse, he gains a few yards and it's 3rd and goal.

He also has Jackson from the slot running a post with 1 v 1 match-up.

If you're not going to Maclin, then your elementary read is the middle linebacker. If he drops back, then you're going to your outs to the left. If he comes forward, then you've got the inside post.

He never looks at that side of the field where his two starting receivers are.

3 step drop, get rid of the ball. If he made his pre-snap reads he would know he has both Jackson and Maclin with 1 on 1 match-ups. Vick instead stares down Celek, the one guy who is jammed and covered.

Maclin's defensive back bails. He isn't even in the frame. Any competent quarterback would have audibled to a 1-step drop and fired it to Maclin and let him choose where to run and score.

Jackson 1 v 1... this isn't an issue of height, or strength, or fighting ability... the guy is 1 v 1 and wins. His quarterback never looks.

You're telling me the Eagles set this play up with two decoys on the side of the field Vick struggles with?

Yeah, I mean the blocking was bad, I guess, more like out-matched. Spags was blitzing with nothing to lose.

Nevertheless, Vick has Clay Harbor pretty open.

Jackson still 1 v 1 coverage because, guess what? The MIKE goes to jam Celek. That's an elementary read right there, you read the MIKE the ball should have been fired to Jackson based on the post-snap read and Maclin based on the pre-snap read.

Vick stares down Celek, which is why Robinson is there in the first place and not chasing after the wide open Harbor.

At that point, why throw to Celek? He isn't even looking and is getting beat by the jam.

Two other guys were wide open, and 1 other had a favorable match-up he wins.

Bad blocking, indecisiveness, failure to make reads, staring down receivers, throwing off your back foot, never looking right... some people won't read my post and will act like I'm blaming Vick for everything, I understand the line and playcalling are bad. But Vick is losing the small battles too.

^^When I first saw that play, I put the INT on Vick. Seeing that breakdown just affirms my initial feelings. He is clearly not aware of the entire field, and locks onto his first read only.

That 10 to 14 point swing essentially is what lost the game for us.

There is NOBODY between Maclin and the endzone.
