Its amazing how we had such huge expectations for him Sanchez and Maybin and none of them had come even close to that. |
This sad story has been going on the last 40 years. |
Not even Parcells and his old Giants company solved this problem. |

Like the positions you addressed but an offensive weapon or a pass rusher in the first round would be better than an OT. _________________

I know you love the idea of Vick but I really don't think that's the best move for our team. That would be a same old Jets move. |
I agree, signing guys/personalities like Vick is what got us into the position we're in right now. |

I agree, signing guys/personalities like Vick is what got us into the position we're in right now. | When has Vick's personality been anywhere near a Holmes/Edwards/Cromartie/LT/JT level since he got out of prison? He's completely changed and has been nothing but a saint with the Eagles. _________________

Ingram is nothing special and probably holds more value to the Saints than his actual value. Not to mention he's not the back we're looking for. _________________

jpt - if we go into the season with Quinn and Jennings as starters, I would probably not watch the Jets for at least a year. _________________

Gtek - I really like that draft. Warmack is a great pick and Bray can sit behind Sanchez for 1 year. Collins is good but he's old, I don't like that. Lacy is a tad too high but I like the Thomas pick. _________________

I have a feeling that we end up drafting in a similar position that we were in last year (somewhere between 10-1 which could end up being a blessing in disguise.
In a year that lacks a definitive top-tier, teams such as Kansas City and Arizona will probably reach on the QBs. Though I believe both Geno and Matt Barkley [Mark Sanchez] will be good NFL QBs (especially Barkley in Arizona because they're loaded with talent), they aren't top rated prospects. There are also a number of teams who will be forced to take OTs (a need I do not believe is a big need for the Jets) which could result in the skill position players and pass rushers falling down the board a bit.
Guys I really like as "fits" for the Jets that I expect to be available (this excludes guys like Moore, Jones, Te'o)
1. Chase Warmack
2. Bjoern Werner
3. Barkevious Mingo
4. Giovani Bernard
5. Dion Jordan
6. Keenan Allen
7. Sam Montgomery
8. Ezekiel Ansah
9. Cordarrelle Patterson
10. Anthony Barr
These are subject to change, but I have reasons why I have these players ranked in this order. Chase and Bjoern are likely top 10 picks.
As for Barkevious Mingo: I know he had an off year but the kid is insanely gifted. He has a relentless motor - sometimes too relentless - which results in over pursuit. I'm not concerned; he'll be a stud in the NFL. He's my favorite pass rusher since Aldon Smith. I have Sam Montgomery slightly down on my list because after watching tape, you can tell how much faster/quicker Mingo is and many times protection is shifted toward him which helps out Montgomery. He can be an elite level LB because he's good in every facet of the game, but I don't see him being the pass rusher Mingo will be.
If all those guys were gone, I'd go Giovani Bernard. He's going to be a player in the NFL... if the Jets can't land a guy in FA, he's the guy. He doesn't have elite size, but that's becoming less and less an issue in the NFL. He's a compact runner with a low center of gravity along the lines of Ray Rice, Doug Martin, Frank Gore, etc. He's fast, but he beats defenders with his quickness as a multi-cut runner and is a phenomenal receiver out of the backfield. After seeing the success of Martin and Rice (whom Bernard is a clone of), he should be a highly regarded prospect if he declares early. |

I'm not sure how well Montgomery will fit in a 3-4. I don't think Bernard should go that early. I love Barr. _________________
