Not the biggest proponent of taking a QB this year, but I really like this draft. Good job. |
Same here, I can live with this draft. _________________

Does Wilson really cover the gap between the #9 and #6 pick?
I do like the draft though. |

Geno is going to be a Top 10 QB in the NFL and I really hope we can somehow get him.
Not crazy about the rest of the draft, but as long as we got Geno I could live with it. _________________

| I would be happy with that, though i don't think Okafor is going to make it to #39. I feel like someone is gonna take him in the late teens early 20's. |

Yeah, but do you hate just b/c you're sick and tired of seeing him so much, or do you actually think he's not going to pan out at the NFL level?
Because the consensus seems to me to be that he's a low risk high reward guy with alot of potential.
I don't really want him either considering the added media attention/questions that will be brought with him, we have enough of that dog-[inappropriate/removed] as is. |

| There is always on guy who drops way way down the draft boards, and every fan wants to take a shot on him in the 6th round or so. Mathieu is the guy this year. If you remember last year it was Vontaz Burfict, everyone had that kind of "why not" attitude with him in the later rounds on mocks. In hindsight that would have been a pretty great pick since he had a nice rookie year and looks to be moving into a starting role next year. |

I want the record to show I was still a Vontaze Burfict supporter through draft day.
Very unhappy we didn't take a chance on him. |

| ya i mean who did we get instead? Robert Griffin the FIRST who we cut, terrance gannaway who we cut. I would have thrown a 6th at him without hesitation, especially since we had 2 6ths and 2 7ths |

Didn't want to start a new thread but i wanted to say that if indeed we do look to 2014 to draft a franchise qb why don't we this year build around Sanchez and give him every chance possible to succeed. Worst case scenario he plays poorly and we cut him next season and get a high pick to get any of the top rated qb's next year. At least the new rookie would have all the pieces around him already to build around. So a little mock offseason with that in mind:
Not going into huge details so not going to use $ just ideas more than anything.
Cuts- Usual suspects: Bart Scott, Jason Smith, Calvin Pace, Eric Smith. Then maybe worst 5-8 players on the bottom of the roster.
Resigings- Dustin Keller, Brandon Moore, LaRon Landry, Austin Howard, Braylon Edwards and Ricky Sapp.
Restructures- Nick Mangold, David Harris and D'Brickashaw Ferguson
Trades-
Antonio Cromartie to Denver for their 1st round pick
Sione Pouha to Philadelpiha for their 6th round pick
Tim Tebow to Chicago for their 7th round pick
FA-
Sebastian Vollmer, RT
Shaun Phillips, OLB
Ty Warren, DE/DT
Casey Hampton, NT
Marcus Dixon, DE
Draft-
*Trade 1st(9)and 4th(103) to St Louis for their 1st(16) and 2nd(46)
*Trade our 1st(16) and 6th(168) to Cincinnati for their 1st(21) and 3rd(84)
*Trade our 1st(2 to Buffalo for their 2nd(41), 4th(102) and 2014 4th round picks.

I know plenty of people have had enough of Sanchez but we cant trade or cut him and unless Geno drops to 9 which is unlikely im not comfortable taking a QB high this year especially considering the talent available next year. If Sanchez (in a QB friendly system) can be just mediocre i could see us being an 8-8 team going into next offseason with a great young roster in search for a franchise QB to help propel us further. With a wide receiving core and tight ends at his disposal plus two big upgrades to his o-line i find it hard to think he wouldn't post career best numbers in all categories. This is just a different take on the mocks i have done but it looks like our immediate future is tied to Sanchez so we might as well build as much talent around him to either succeed or set up a new quarterback next year. _________________

This is what I want to see. Trade down to get as many 2nd and 3rd round picks as possible.
I like all your picks (except Okafor) but would switch Barner with Gilleslee. I think Randle and Barner are similar type speedy backs. |

I have no problems with that draft, or even with the FA, and i fully understand what you are saying about Sanchez. Would that end up being in the best long term interest of the team?
Probably. But i really don't think i could stomach another year with him starting. More over i don't think a lot of especially the more casual fans that jumped on the buttfumble bandwagon could either. I believe the front office knows that, and knows that he can't start or else they lose fans/attendance.
I honestly think that may have been the thinking behind the interest they showed in such marginal guys as Tavarius Jackon. I wouldn't be suprsed if the words "hey he can lose a good amount of games for us this year" were said haha. And he wouldn't be named Sanchez. |

Rich51-I know what you mean about Okafor but that's why I listed him 3rd in the OLB I would want with that pick. I'm guessing one of those three would make it that far.
Rampant- I agree 100% iv been wanting shut of Sanchez all offseason and don't get me wrong if there was a way to dump his contract and pick up a FA or draft a franchise calibre QB then great but as there isn't any options we must build around the quarterback position this year so that either Mark, a FA, a rookie or McElroy can compete with talent around this year and come 2014 we have the depth and potential to succeed with a better QB. Lets be honest if the offseason fell like that and Mark got those pieces and STILL stunk the place up then he would never play in a meaniginful game again for anyone in the NFL. _________________
