Also, just wanna say regardless of whether Trindon's TD should have counted, which it shouldn't have, he really had a great day returning the ball. He's dynamic and I think we're going to work him in on offense a bit more, which we should. _________________

Too bad Dumervil never wins matchups against good passing offenses. |
First you take air at Dawkins, now that he's retired you're going after Doom....go be a Raiders fan... _________________

Chris Harris has me convinced. However, I need a bigger body of work from Tony Carter to be convinced that he deserves more money and a longer deal. _________________

I would rather Dumervil go join the Raiders personally. _________________ Stop slobbering over Brian Dawkins |

So you want to get rid of a guy who's gonna get 10-12 sacks,, 5-7 FF because you have a hair in the wrong place ?? how putz-like ...
I understand being critical of a play or two, but to crucify a player all season it just isn't right, American is full of forgiveness, maybe you used all your up.
Just curious, whose gonna be next years target...just asking ?? Elway, DT, maybe Clady ?? Maybe you and ihatepotholes should have a beer and just trade notes. _________________

What a terrible player Dumerville is.
He only has 7 sacks and multiple forced fumbles. What a bum!
If only he could average more stats he would be closer to the mediocre players in the NFL. |

Uh sure, if the dude can learn to hold on to the football. Idk if he gets nervous, likes watching himself on the tube or what but the guy needs to focus on the freakin' game and the situation he's currently in for once or he's gonna make a bone-headed costly mistake for us in an important game later this season or the playoffs. _________________

Basing the quality of play of Elvis Dumervil based on stats is ridiculous.
1. People are saying he is good based on less than 12 plays when he has probably played in over 200 snaps this season.
2. It is a slap in the face to other players on this defense, especially a guy like Von Miller. I mean statistically, Dumervil is equal to if not better than Miller when you include his FF's. Though, we all know that Dumervil isn't even close to making as big an impact as Miller, nor, is he even close (never was or will be) to the player that Miller is. It also takes away from the fact that all of Denver's DB's, Kevin Vickerson, and Derek Wolfe certainly make a bigger impact in nearly every single game except the 2nd half vs SD...but they don't have the stats, right?...
Actually watch Dumervil instead of looking at is stats every game. The Panther game would be a great example and sum up his season thus far. What you will see is a guy that aside from 1 play did very little to help the defense. |

I'm kind of with Anti when it comes to Doom...(key words "kind of") You can say he has 7 sacks, and multiple forced fumbles, but from my recollection, most of those have come on the very last series when we have the lead. Specifically the Chargers game. He has always been a player who gets sacks in bunches and thats probably whats frustrating. One game he'll go off and have 2 sacks, bunch of hurries, a FF, then he'll have 2-3 games of nothing. I will say this though, he has been waaay better against the run than given credit for and many of you bash him for this. That, and he is ONLY 28! I say that cuz I feel like he's been around forever and figured he'd be 31 or so. He is still growing and learning like the rest of the team. I just wish we weren't paying him 16+ milllion a year for inconsistency... For that price, wish we had Charles Johnson instead (might be my man crush talkin though) |

Valid points.
However, hindsight is 20/20. When we resigned Dumerville most folks here were relieved we kept him. We paid him the going rate based on his production.
If Ayers had panned out as a 10-12 sack artist per season to go along with being stout against the run, Elvis might have been a candidate to restructure or get cut. But alas, Ayers only has one pass rush move and his sack stats are abysmal. I would like to see him play well against a good O line before evaluating him. He did well against one of the worst Lines in the NFL so I am not sure that we can take too much from his recent performance.
If Dumerville doesnt play this weekend, then we will get to see how far Ayers has come when the Chargers come to town. |

Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't we resign him when we were in the middle of our 3-4 phase? When we were sans Miller, a pass-rush specialist - and a pretty good one at that - was probably worth that kind of money. Made sense at the time.
And would have to agree with the sentiment that he doesn't offer enough for his money. He's a refined specialist and I certainly appreciate the value of what he brings. Its just that he gets washed out in the run game far too often for my liking.
A mock draft-esque hypothetical, perhaps, but is it at all possible that we see him shipped out to a 3-4 team? |

Not likely, considering who he's expected to be lined up against. If it was Gaither, I'd agree, but he'd better go to town against the UDFA who's currently starting at LT for the Chargers. |
