It's so wild to see how shields has become a legit corner now. at Miami he was the definite weak link. Good to see somebody sat him down and refined his technique because he's a ball hawk _________________

yeah he sucked, though admittedly he was a wide receiver his first 3 years. _________________

The talent was always there, the coaching at Miami was very lack-luster though. _________________

I'm not sure if we can get shields or not, he's restricted and it depends in what the packers designate him as. William Moore is going to be a hard get, my guess is we probably keep Meriweather as our SS but its worth a shot. _________________

Now, he is an unrestricted free agent who is coming off his first season as a starter in which he led the league in passes defensed. The price to keep Lewis has gone up. "I didn't want a contract in 2012," Lewis told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I was just a nickel back. I probably would have told them to hold up on the contract anyway because I wanted to really establish myself as a starting cornerback. I didn't want nickel-back money, I wanted starter money." |

| Quote: | Lewis has showed steady improvement since being selected 12 spots after fellow free agent teammate Mike Wallace in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Lewis impressed head coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator - LeBeau to eventually secure the starting cornerback spot opposite of Ike Taylor, allowing the team to part ways with veterans Bryant McFadden and William Gay.
Lewis started all 16 games in 2012, and demonstrated the ability to be a top level talent at his position making himself a desirable commodity when free agency begins in March of 2013, especially after accepting Taylor's role of drawing opponents' top receivers after Taylor broke an ankle in Week 13 and upholding the standard.
As Lewis alluded to in his post, the Steelers finished the 2012 season as the leagues best overall defense and pass defense, and No. 2 against the run. Lewis's contributions to defensive success cannot be overlooked. |

should look into players like Richard Seymour and Cullen Jenkins.. small 1 year incentive based contracts to be a stop gap while we fix our other needs.. Dline would have much much more depth. _________________ In Shanny I Trust |

I'd be down for a small incentive based contract with Seymour. I wouldn't give him anything close to what his last deal was though. _________________
