I was told by my source that after last week's MNF embarassment, Mike Bidwill made the remark in a room full of people (He said it was a packed room with like 40-50 people) that Ken Whisenhunt isn't giving him quote, "any return on our investment" and Bidwill was apparently openly skeptical of the power Whiz has over this team right now. Apparently, it's been rumored that Whiz wouldn 't re-hire Todd Haley and relinquish full control over the offense to him and Whiz has not allowed Russ Grimm to have any say in the offense either, even though Grimm was supposedly led to believe that he would. My buddy then stated that quote "a lot of people think Russ wants out".
My buddy also stated point blank that Bidwill was, and I quote, "steaming on the inside" when he saw just how many fans were leaving the U of P early.
I tried calling him last night but it went straight to voicemail. Can only imagine this past Sunday's game didn't go over well either. _________________

I think the biggest thing in the NFL is having your coaching team work as a unit. Look at the Steelers, how much impact do you think Tomlin has on that offense or that defense? _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

GREAT stuff Champ.
Looks like Ken is digging his own grave. I question why he has so much power to begin with? _________________

Or Harbaugh in Baltimore. Guy is just a great motivator. Former special teams coach. Has Cameron run his offense. _________________

Well, I know Whiz's contract gives him full power over his coaching staff. What it says about personnel I don't know but I know for fact he's a bigger voice in the draft room than people think he is and that includes Mike Jurecki. MJ has stated a couple of times that Rod Graves has full control over the roster and the draft when I've been told that he doesn't. I've been told it's more 50-50. _________________

As a Head Coach in the NFL you automatically have the power that Ken has. Some just use it differently. Haley had similar issues in KC when he would not let Weis take full control of the offense.
You need to find a Head Coach that is going to be involved in all aspects of the team, be involved in all aspects of player personnel, but leave some of the more nitty gritty X's and O's to the guys you hire and trust as Coordinators.
That is a very tough mix to find. usually if you are good enough to get to the level of NFL Head Coach, you have the ego to go with it. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I've also been told previously that Steve Keim has more draft input than people think too. _________________

Part of the reason I am partial to Dave Toub, but he comes from a 43 defense background in Chicago (Though he is the Teams guy) _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

It is the three headed monster. Rod, Ken and Steve. That is the decision making process. It is pretty easy to pinpoint the time Keim arrived and the time this team swung quite radically in the direction of best player available. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

MJ has stated on a few occasions that Rod Graves has full say in the draft room and over the roster as a whole. _________________

Mikey is just like us. He cares and it kills ya a little inside when they lose. Mikey was on the verge of firing Ken last season as well until things turned around. I am not going to blame Ken myself for all the injuries the team has. |

If I thought injuries were playing a part in this I wouldn't blame Ken either. But I don't. The injuries we've suffered have little to do with our struggles, if anything at all. _________________

It's hard to win with no QB play. Only a solid team like the 49er's can get away with that. |

Kolb had injury concerns dating back to Philly. Whiz/Graves were fully aware of that. That's just as much on them as it is anything/anyone else. _________________

I'd rather they rolled the dice and went down swinging then never take a chance. Koilb seemed like a good idea and worth the risk at the time. They get trashed for the trade but at least they didn't sit back.
Also whoever says Ken cannot spot a good QB or a bad one. Don't forget, he passed on Blaine Gabbert and said the kid doesn't impress. Skelton as a 5th rounder is a better QB them him. So you win some and lose some. |
