We wore this:
I was highly infatuated with this when I saw them wear it last. To what I recall, was against the 49ers at home during our last SB in 04-05.
Was that really the last time? Why haven't we been wearing it?

IIRC they wore those in the 2007 season (so only 4.5 years).
I thought they were pretty stupid TBH. I don't see a need for an "alternate" in a league where you're wearing each your home/away for about 8 games. On top of that, the silver ones were so similar to the whites, you could barely tell the difference.
If they want to do a true alternate, they should do a red version of their current uniform. |

Did anyone actually ever believe that? I don't think it qualifies as a rumor if everyone knows it's not true. |

I like the unis the way they are.
First of all, most proposed alternatives involve some combination of red, white and blue which is just garish. That Captain America-themed "futuristic design" included - fake or not those are just comical. Why don't people understand that loud != modern? The navy and silver is not sexy, but it looks clean and has a stately quality to it.
As for ditching blue entirely and going back to the throwback reds, the Pats franchise has probably (but hopefully not) had the finest years it will ever have in the current unis. Gotta wear the glory days uniforms.
