Appearances. The league is in a lawsuit surrounding its awareness and subsequent treatment of injured former employees. It now has to at least appear like it is doing everything in its power to keep players safe -- and that includes keeping franchises "accountable" for properly reporting injuries. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

More significant to their bottom line is the impact on fantasy/sports book. _________________

I think they'll find that it has an adverse affect. Teams are listing players are probably if they have to sit out one play from practice because of hiccups. I think it was John Harbaugh who said he'd list every player with a hangnail for fear of being fined.
Essentially teams are just listing all 53 players on the injury report - we've yet to find a balance. IMO - There needs to be a quantifiable definition for each designation. No more letting Belichek list Brady as questionable every week with split ends. |

Yep - it's going to get to a point where players are on there for ridiculous things just to ensure no fine.
I thought they had it pretty good, but maybe I misunderstood. I thought it was something based on their participation in practice during the week. Something like:
Weds - DNP
Thurs - Limited
Fri - Full Participation
Status: Questionable
Weds - DNP
Thurs - DNP
Fri - Limited
Status: Doubtful
Weds - Limited
Thurs - Full Participation
Fri - Full Participation
Status: Probable
Weds - DNP
Thurs - DNP
FRI - DNP
Status: Out _________________

Yeah, I don't understand these hefty fines for failing to report an injury. I can understand maybe a warning and a small fine but not a $20,000 fine. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |
