I do not like Lombardi, I think he's a scrub who got by with other peoples information and turned it into a few minor stints with NFL teams before they caught on to him. He's a complete joke and this franchise would be taking a major step back if he in fact does become the new GM

If we hire Michael Lombardi I am done.

This is where I normally tell you to step back from the ledge....

Instead, I shall approach it with you.

HE IS SO BAD

HOW COULD BANNER AND HASLEM NOT SEE THIS.

You normally look at a Resume before hiring.

Could their be a worse Resume in the league?

"Yeah, so while I haven't been employed by an NFL team in more than a decade, for obvious reasons, but did you see 'Cleveland 95'? I WAS IN THAT!!"

"When can you start?"

The only solace I take is perhaps Banner is doing a favor for Lombardi, putting his name out there to generate some buz so Lombardi can get a pay raise

Lombardi would be just an absolute disaster of a hire, and instantly destroy Haslam and Banner's credibility in my eyes. It would be the most Brownsy hire of all time and I therefore fully expect it to happen Sad.

I don't know why this came to mind.

Right now Tom Heckert is working on the upcoming draft and free agency. He and his staff report directly to Joe Banner.

1. If Banner keeps him till the end of the year, and then fires him, he will have gotten all the scouting reports from Heckert and his staff... correct?

2. If Heckert believes he will be somewhere else next year (or just unemployed) would he put forth honest reports or keep some things to himself?

3. If Banner hires someone who is not in the league (cough...ugh Lombardi) is he currently doing work on scouting players and free agency?

very scary

I've been is a somewhat similar situation... I kept my personal notes on a thumb drive, and when I was let go I took my thumb drive with me.

My then former employer had the nerve to call me and ask if I had any notes or information that would help their new hire.... Confused

Or agree to help them with the condition that they pay you a consulting fee.

Not a fan of Lombardi and hope these are just rumors. It would be helpful If the Browns win 3 of the next 4 games to help make a stronger case.

Pluto also wrote a good article that eloquently explains why Lombardi makes no sense.

Is anyone pumped about this? Has there been one positive thing said about the potential hire?

I can't see how a guy like Haslam could not take note of this.

I also don't think there has been one media member who doesn't want to keep Heckert. I think it's quite apparent to anyone watching that the guy has a pretty decent eye for talent.

If they want to replace Shurmur, I won't pitch much of a fit. I think he may be good enough to coach, he may not. Either way, not too concerned. Heckert on the other hand would do more than ruffle my feathers. If they want to bring in a new GM, that's their choice, but it had better be someone who has a very long, established track record of excellent personnel decisions.

Just saying, If he gets the job over Heckert. I will gladly jump out of my window and then limp my way into oncoming traffic.

His best 1st round pick was probabaly Robert Gallery who pick over Big Ben When oakland needed a QB.

Gallery end up moving from LT to LG and becoming a journeyman middle of the road guard.

There are guys on boards that I go to/contribute I'd want hired befor this a$$ clown.

This SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not the draft I want a new GM on.
