Lombardi was bad in his first go-around as Browns GM. I'd hope that if we decide to replace Heckert that it would be with someone better than Lombardi. Props to Grossi for wording it well:
| Quote: | | “If Banner now is seriously considering Lombardi as a replacement for Heckert, who is eminently more qualified and can draft rings around Lombardi, then the Browns’ fortunes are not as promising as I once thought.” |

| I get the impression that JH3 is thorough enough to not just take Banner's input as the gospel. I don't drink the Heckert Kool-Aid, but he is light-years better than Lombardi. |

Lombardi himself was on a Cleveland sports radio program the other day denying any contact or interest from the Browns.
He went on to say that there were several media types who would not allow him to succeed (translated: they called me out for failure).
Looks like Grossi is one of them, and for good reason.
Tommy Vardell 9th overall. Over Leon Searcy.
Steve Everett 14th overall. Over Michael Strahan, Robert Smith, et al.
Antonio Langham 9th overall; Derrick Alexander 29th overall. Over Aaron Glenn and Isaac Bruce.
Craig Powell 30th overall. Traded down twice and missed Ty Law, Korey Stringer and Derrick Brooks.
I'm convinced you could get better results drawing names out of a hat than what Lombardi would give you. |

"Lombardi is an idiot. Period."
No more needs to be said. |

Owning gas stations does not equal running a football team. _________________

But why make billions when you can make... millions?
Lombardi may have been a marginal (at best) GM while actively employed in the league, but at least he's really arrogant. Hopefully, this is just a baseless rumor. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

Just because he's a great business man, doesn't mean he won't make a mistake or two as an owner.
Let's hope this isn't one of them. _________________

| Am i correct in feeling that every week that passes in which Heckert is still with the team, the better the chances are that Banner / Haslam have decided to keep him? I'm sure I don't need to go into why it's more important to hire a new GM now than wait until the offseason, but I just get the feeling that if Heckert is here come college bowl season, he'll be kept. |
