| I know that the Chargers got some decent years out of some guys but the Eli Manning - Philip Rivers trade is more and more lopsided. |

Sure it does, Kaeding was drafted with one of those picks on the trade. _________________

Couple of years late tbh. So anti clutch in those dominant charger years.
could have cost them a SB or 2. _________________

Using that logic, the Herschel Walker trade doesn't look that bad anymore. _________________

To be fair - people can say what they will about those picks by the Chargers, but given the state of the draft (looking clearly hindsight here); they were the best picks they could have made in those situations.
Not sure how the deal is lopsided? Rivers is doing terrible this year, but in their careers, Rivers has been much better, statistically... in the regular season.
I don't see the Rivers / Eli difference really being that much. Eli is better, but I can't say I'd call it lopsided at all. If Kaeding hadn't regressed and Merriman stayed clean; San Diego would have won that deal. _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Hardly as they didn't trade current Eli for current Rivers. They've had years of production from multiple players including Rivers being superior to Eli for part of their careers. _________________

I meant that if you look at how the two franchises have done since that trade. Obviously there are an infinite number of variables that have contributed to both teams successes and failures but I think everybody in the world would rather have Eli than Rivers and considering the no other players from that trade are still on the Chargers team - it seems like it's lopsided. I think when people look back on the trade - they will say that the Giants clearly made out with the best deal even if we're oversimplifying things. |
