The real front office would kick him to the curb. What happened to that front office? |
Hmm... maybe they are waiting for due process to take place and see what is true and what is not true. Not saying he didn't do what is reported but just because you think you know everything that happened doesn't mean you do.
Funny how people have forgiven Ben for what he "alledgedly" did yet they want Ta'amu burned at the stake without allowing the legal process to do its job. |
Who says I've forgiven Ben at all? |
No offense, but that "The real front office..." thing was based on absolutely nothing.
You have no way of knowing what they would have done in this situation 5, 10 or even 20 years ago.
Ta'amu made a mistake...a bad one. He is also very young, and while that doesnt excuse his behavior, he is also known as a pretty humble and quiet guy. Its not like he has red flags other than this.
My guess is they are giving him a chance to redeem himself with the team, but probably know that the league and the law could and probably will come down hard on him after the DUE PROCESS is taken. _________________

It's his first offense as a Steeler, should we condemn him already? There's the chance this could motivate him to prove himself and mature as a person and player.
Our front office IS pretty strict and respectable compared to most. But if you ship off every single guy who does something stupid off the field, you'd have nobody left. I have personally, with my own two eyes, seen James Harrison engage in some downright repulsive behavior towards women one night years ago on the South Side. He should of been arrested. Made me think much differently of him, but at the same time the guy had just come off the practice squad and started emerging the following season, then becomes an elite ROLB. While I'm sure the Steelers organization knew of plenty of stories like the one I seen, are they going to ship him off when he's a monster on the field, and a highly competitive player who wants to win??? They're running a business and trying to win football games. In some cases, you have to look the other way when it comes to character concerns if they aren't killing your locker room or setting a terrible example for your franchise. |

In a league that tolerates Leonard Little, Donte Stallworth, and Ray Lewis... Ta'amu barely moves the dial.
I'm sure he's not done with the consequences for his actions either.
He doesn't deserve a break here, but he is just a kid in the big scheme of things. He does deserve a little mercy and withholding of judgement. | this excellent post! _________________

| Quote: | Alameda Ta’amu waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Oscar Petite on Thursday. Afterward, with attorney Robert DelGreco at his side, he expressed remorse.
“I’m sorry,” Ta’amu said. “Sorry is the only word I can say right now.”
Pittsburgh police accused him of fleeing from police, crashing into vehicles and then fighting with officers in the South Side on Oct. 14.
He was temporarily suspended from the team following the incident.
“He is contrite,”DelGreco said. “He has accepted responsibility and he is in counseling.”
