i honestly wouldnt care if we got a 5th round pick or even less. it clears up so much cap room. correct me if im wrong but we wouldnt take any cap hit right? and if we pay a team money too, that doesnt count against us either right?
positives
- clear cap room which we need.
- make our rb situation more clear, this isnt the run game we had 4 years ago under Fox. its an option read off.
- team is heading in new direction. time to send some messages.
- get tolbert on the field more which is needed.
- CAP ROOM! sign some FA.
- Draft picks even if it is a later pick they are helpful to trade up, who knows i could see someone paying a 3rd rounder. _________________

More importantly, we'd still be on the hook for his remaining distributable signing bonus. He signed a 5 year deal with $21M in guarantees before last year. He still has $10.35M in bonus left to account for against the cap.
That's why I've been saying after this season (and after June 1) it is far more likely he's moved after this season. Right now, his cap hit for moving him would be larger than his cap hit for keeping him. I mentioned this back when the deal was signed. He was likely going to be with us for 2-3 years.
Can't remember if the two year cap split rule would function now or not. If so, we could cut/trade him and split the cap hit over this year and next year, but I don't know if that can be done right now or if we'd have to wait until June 1. Unless this splitting rule applies, it would actually hurt our cap space to trade him right now.
Frankly, I hope they keep him through the year and actually run an offense that utilizes his and Stewart's skills, rather than this fancy crap they've been doing. _________________

| Would you draft his replacement or depend on Stewart? |

We already gave Stew a contract, so depend on him. Maybe draft a guy mid-round to back up Stew due to his injury history. But Stewart when given the opportunity in the past has proven to be a quality running back and for my money, he's one of the best pure runners in the league. |

Probably utilize Tolbert as the 2nd RB and pick up someone to be the 3rd. _________________

Rebuild 2.0 has begun. This time we are getting rid of bad contracts. _________________
