So would you rather have your team be mostly irrelevant for like a decade, with one odd season ending in a Super Bowl victory, or would you rather have your team be playoff caliber for 10 years, maybe even making it to the big game or Conference Championship a couple times, but never actually winning one?

What if i want to be irrelevant for a decade with one odd season ending in a Super Bowl, but after that decade, win like 3 more super bowls?

As a fan of a team that's been relevant, please give me the ring.

It doesn't really matter. Would you trade that 1 Super Bowl for 10 years of relevancy and playoff victories except in the big game? (Yes, you still get to keep those 3 super bowls in the next decade.

Considering the rough patch my team went through the past decade I'll take either. Confused

Eh, our defense kept us plenty relevant for a pretty good run, while our anemic offenses kept us from winning more than one. Until we won the paper champions jab from Lee Flowers was pretty fitting, if hypocritical.

As a player, I'd rather have a decade of relevancy. I hate losing.

But as a fan, if I was a fan of the 2000's Eagles, I'd probably want a team that could win a super bowl if it means begin irrelevant the rest of the time.

Personally, I think a Super Bowl victory is great and all, but even if the Patriots won the Super Bowl in the 90's, I would probably much rather be a fan of these Patriots even if they don't win another Super Bowl for a long time.

I'll add this. When I'm old and my daughter is grown I doubt I'll be telling my grandchildren about all the years we could've/should've won.

Long-term relevance. Of course, the answers are mainly going to vary from perspective. I don't expect a fan of a bad team would choose the ring, and I don't expect the fan of a team that has been good for awhile but doesn't have a ring, to not choose the ring.

Though it always depends on your definition of irrelevance. There's a big gap between, say, 03-09 Oakland Raiders irrelevance, and 97-02 Carolina Panthers irrelevance. In one case, you had a team that was lucky to get 4 wins, and on the other side, you have a team who never really made the playoffs or competed, but they had a sprinkling of 8-8 years mixed in with the bottom of the barrel seasons.

A super bowl ring, to me, is not worth a stretch like the Raiders. It is, however, worth a stretch that still includes some decent seasons.
