So, who will be put on the roster to replace his spot? Does Bobby Felder come up from the PS? Or do they look elsewhere? _________________

Yeah, it's unfortunate, because they now have no one to match up with Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall. _________________

Disappointing, but at least we will learn more about Jefferson.... _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

The Vikings have actually been very fortunate with injuries this year, overall.
Tough break losing Cook, but you still need to battle on. _________________

Will be a good chance to look at Jefferson in extended times. _________________ XBL/PSN: Chainedsniper |

| Chris Cook was having a Pro Bowl type of year. Not looking at his stats but strictly based on how he has shut down some of the top receivers he has faced. One guy they couldnt afford to lose in the defense. |

I scanned some of the available free agents that the Vikings could bring in to fill a roster spot...none of them really strike me as great options. Although Reggie Jones, who was part of the final cuts is still available. Also, some may remember Domonique "DJ" Johnson from last year's practice squad. He was recently released from Indianapolis' P.S.
They could also grab someone else off another team's practice squad, but who knows. _________________

| I expect to see Robinson starting now with AJ Jefferson playing nickel. Well, at least we will get a real long look at Jefferson. I thought he was allright against Tampa. |

I agree this is bad news for the Vikes, and more importantly Chris Cook. As has been stated, he was playing exceptionally well and shutting down the opponents #1 receivers very well. He was definitely restoring his confidence and repairing his image . . . hope he keeps his head up and in the right frame of mind.
If he can come back in several weeks, I hope he jumps in right where he left off.
In the meantime, Robinson and Jefferson will have to step up big time. Blanton is the other guy that might be able to shift into a corner role . . . if he's healthy and fast enough. |

Think Josh will see to many mismatches if played outside vs a tall reciever.. Hope Jefferson grabs his chance, he is a bit bigger than Josh..
Expect Bobby Felder to be elevated as the CB market is pretty dead right now and we are not gonna bring in veterans in our current state.. |

Josh Robinson has played outside all year long. Robinson didnt even get many reps at inside CB in camp.
Robinson will remain at LCB, Jefferson will play RCB/nickel and Winfield will be the slot CB. |

To make a positive out of negative, atleast Josh Robinson will see the field more. I think Robinson has more potential anyway to be the long-term LCB. Further, we also will get an extended look at AJ Jefferson as the 3rd CB, which will be vital since Winfield very well could retire at year's end.
Losing Cook hurts a lot for this year, he really cant catch a break. Missed a lot of 2010, missed most of 2011, and now this. |
