There was a lot of negative talk about what might happen in Jonte Green's first start. I just read the following article on mlive.com that evaluated his performance:
http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2012/10/detroit_lions_second_look_eval.html#incart_river
He actually played a solid game and wasn't protected or babied. I listened to the game on the radio so I didn't see the game but I hope he can continue to be solid. I saw a clip of his sack on Cutler and thought it was a pretty heads-up play. I know it is onfly one start but it definitely bodes well for his future. What did everyone else think about his performance? |

Takes more than one solid start to get me excited. Ask me again at seasons end. _________________ Are you getting Ziggy with it? |

Give credit where credit is due people! He was by far the most blasted Lions player on these forums and when he got his first start he more than held his own. I'm not saying anoint him as our future HOF lock down corner, but give him some of the credit he earned on Monday.
Lol at Smith having a better game than Green though. Good stuff, forgot the green text though. _________________

I'm not convinced he is the future, but his development from the first couple weeks has been astounding. I hope he keeps it up cause like Stylish said, it takes more than 1 start. But it's a lot better than I expected in even that 1 start. _________________

Amen. Can't judge him entirely on the first five games or the last one. Let's let the season play out before we start judging any of our rookies. Weaknesses can be exposes, strengths could cover them up... let's wait and see. _________________ Football is love, love is life. |

| Jonte Green is probably our 7th best DB on a team with the worst secondary by far. He is mediocre at best. Pimping him up only hurts him more when people actually watch him play. |

This.
Many said he should have been cut based on preseason games and spot regular season action. He shouldn't get credit for one solid game as a starter? _________________

The hate is strong with this one.

| I get that he's your AAL, but not all of us have to hype him up mindlessly. |

I'm not trying to hype him up mindlessly. I'm saying the bashing that he took earlier this year from pretty much every poster, and is still taking from some for some reason, is unfounded. In his one start he played better than Bently did in any of his starts, not that I think he'll be better than Bently, but give the kid some credit instead of mindlessly hating and trying to find any little thing wrong with him. _________________

Why do people think he's terrible? Because he played poorly in preseason? _________________

He looked shaky the first few preseason games and then he got beat for the touchdown in week 1 (any of our other CB's would have got beaten on the same throw).
He looked good in relief in the PHL game and had a solid outing in the Chicago game. Too small of a sample size to tell if he is going to make it or not, but with that been said, I think he has some promise if he continues to develop. |

FWIW, ProFootballFocus.com had him graded at a +1.4 and a +1.2 in the last two games. Take away week 1 where he allowed 2 long receptions, and he has the fourth highest per-snap PFF rating in the league amongst players that have played more snaps than him.
Now, I'm not fool enough to suggest that he's some hidden superstar, but he's strung together a couple good games and there is definitely some reason to be optimistic. |
