Perfect. Hopefully that's enough to push us over the top and out of the top pick at the last minute before he walks away in free agency!!!
But really, i hope they can keep Darryl Smith around for next season and beyond. If playing a couple games at the end of the year helps to make that a reality, that really is good news. And as important as he is, i really doubt the impact as anywhere near as profound as i sarcastically suggested.
Still really disappointing that he's going to miss essentially the whole season. |

-So far this season Blain Gabbert has a 89.9 QB rating when under pressure, which is well above average. Pretty incredible considering he was last years worst QB under pressure by a wide margin

But he's scared of the pressure! _________________

I just want whoever our QB next year is to be someone who can be a guy to lead this team to Super Bowls eventually. Don't care if it is Gabbert, Geno or someone else. I just don't think Gabbert is that guy. _________________

He doesn't have to be.
He just needs to be Trent Dilfer and have our Defense get back to where it needs to be.
An average at best Quarterback last year gets us 8+ wins. _________________

Call me greedy, but I don't want Dilfer/Alex Smith. I want Brady/Eli _________________

Can't have 32 of them.
Someone has to have Alex Smith, why? Jaguars.
Maybe when they start to retire, but not now. _________________

I agree. It may be greedy, but i don't care. I want it.
I'm willing to suffer a couple extra years of a Dilfer/Smith/Gabbert/later round QB project/whoever to get it done though. Those guys don't come along every year. |

Would you take a mid round flier on a guy who could project to be a top-12 starter in the league, given he has time to sit behind Gabbert? _________________

If we can make the rest of the team good enough to contend like those two teams have, then yeah. I'd still rather end up with an elite QB at the cost of another position or two though. Guys like Brady and Rodgers make it a whole lot easier to have holes or injuries elsewhere and still be competitive while you're rebuilding those other areas.
A different point: I always thought, and still do, that if we had given him actual receivers, Garrard could have made us a consistent contender. He had "it." His ability to rise up and play elite in clutch situations with the crap for receivers that he had was remarkable. He turned Mike Sims Walker and Mike Thomas into statistically two of the best red zone receivers in the NFL. He was consistently one of the best 4th quarter QBs, and was even better in the 4th with the game on the line. Man... What this team could be right now if we had a healthy Garrard starting and Gabbert learning behind him right now. _________________

hai guise
Hopefully we can limit injuries in this game. Half of our starting unit is on the injury report right now
Let's hope for a good game? _________________

I hope Chick has the same explosiveness off the snap he had last season. _________________
