That being said Teo will be exposed in the 4-3 unless its SAM. He can play zone but man coverage on an NFL TE. No way. Put him on at 3-4 ILB and watch him become a star. He's really no different than Rolando McClain for the Raiders.
ND's toughest opponent was an overrated Big XII team. People need to keep that in mind. |
ok genius needs to removed from that user name. |
Yea, that was a great INT. The ball is allowed to touch the ground if he maintains possession, the ball didn't move around until he was rolling over and the ball wasn't touching the ground anymore. Thus, a INT. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |

I have him as good value from #6 through the first round and think he is going to be that special 14 seasons type of player. I'd be ecstatic to have both him and Butler as my ILB's next year. |
Do you think your GM would trade up for him or another prospect? |
We won't need to trade up. We are the worst team
In the NFL. I have no clue who gets our GM job next season. _________________

At this point, I see us finishing around picks 6-10. We will probably take Manti or a DB.
I don't care where we put him or Dqwell, it would be a nice pickup for this defense. _________________

On Rob Rang's big board
#6. Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame: It seems that every year there is a high profile defender who earns some buzz as a Heisman contender. A few years back it was Ndamukong Suh. A year ago it was LSU's Tyrann Mathieu. This season, it is Te'o. With all due respect to Notre Dame's "skill-position" players, there is no question that the Irish's playmaking middle linebacker is the team's best player and biggest reason for their impressive start. I don't anticipate that Te'o will ultimately be drafted this high but he ranks among the relatively "sure things" of this year's draft class.
Should be available relative to the Browns draft position. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

I don't want Teo with where we are going to be picking. Linebacker is just one of those positions that I'm skeptical of in the top 5 to 10. Considering that our best linebacker also plays the position that Teo is best suited at, I don't like it. Too much risk in it that high. If we were picking in the mid or late teens, I'd like it a lot more. _________________

there is an inherit assumption in your line of thinking though.
See i don't care if it is Te' Jackson Johnson or Johnson Te'o Jackson.
What ever makes the D better. But also your argument is only cogent in a base set. Having Jackson and Te'o in a nickel isn't a bad thing _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

If you are asking Jackson to cover anyone then yeah it is a bad thing. The only thing D'Qwell Jackson is good for outside of a million tackles 6 yards downfield is a delay blitz when he has a free lane to the QB. Ask him to get around blockers on his own and he'll fail. Most overrated player on the roster. Most overrated linebacker in the NFL. _________________

I often wonder why Miliner hasn't gotten more play from the forum. He's generally considered the #1 CB in the draft, is a decent size and seems like another great SEC corner prospect _________________

The thing about Curry was that he was more a freak than anything.
Hawk was a safe pick. He was never great but has been solid most of his career.
Teo is athletic, but that's not what makes him so good. It's his instincts, his toughness and his physical play.
You can see he is the smartest guy on the field. He is always in the right place.
He's great in coverage, which we lack big time in our LB's.
He is always around the ball.
He also seems like a born leader.
Again, I love Dqwell, but i don't care if we had to put Manti as an OLB to start, he is just a playmaker.
I normally wouldn't like to take a LB this high, but this draft is crap.
Outside of Star, who will be a Star, i would take Teo.
Jones and his condition scare me, and frankly, I don't think we will be picking high enough for him anyway. Hell, we may not be picking high enough for Teo. _________________
