NOTE - The title has been changed given the recent developments. It seems it's in poor taste.
So. I think we can agree he is a happy warrior.
2 Years ago I loved him. I thought he was going to be part of the future. This past year (and starting at TC) I didn't think he had developed enough and I was ready to toss him to the curb. Boy was I wrong. He has been a pleasant surprise.
How big of a part of a future do you see with him? Is he our starter lock and step? Better as just a role player? Scrub? HOF cat?

The afro by itself may make him an immediate HOF candidate. It's clean, it's a perfect sphere, and he wears it well. If he also had left the pick in it, he'd be third behind Pat McQuistan and LYNN SCOTT!!! as the GOAT. _________________

If he sported the pick... He'd be my favorite player on the team without question. _________________ Quote from May 7, 2013...

I'm a huge supporter of Brent, and wish they would move Rat to 5 tech because we have a true NT in Brent. Rat played well today, but him, Brent, and Hatcher would be scarey. Coleman, Crawford, and Liss when healthy could rotate in. I actually really like our front seven, add in Spears for run downs. I think we are a pair of safeties away from a complete d.
Brents a strong strong man. _________________

I feel like he is good enough to start, but not good enough to stop me from wanting us to draft an elite NT if one fell in our laps during the draft. I do like him though. Maybe he will develop a little more and i will have even more confidence in him. At this point I agree lets start hatcher brent and rat. _________________

Pretty much exactly what he said. _________________

So, you are saying that you forgot about your own 3 year rule?
I think Brent is solid and a good backup. He seemed to play really well when he filled in for Ratliff. But, is he the long term answer at NT? I'm not sold, yet. _________________

Very nice player and rotational defensive lineman, and a steal for being a 7th round supplemental pick.
I really like what I've seen from Brent this year, but like others have said if an elite NT falls to us I wouldn't be opposed to drafting him. You can never have enough defensive lineman. _________________

I'm kinda crushed over the Sean Lee thing right now. But this thread is my new happy place. Perhaps we should have a Josh Brent posting party in TACT. _________________ Quote from May 7, 2013...

Agreed. Losing Sean Lee is the worst thing that could happen to this team. _________________

I agree with this, but let's also not forget that having an elite NT fall to you is easier said than done. Start him, Ratliff, and Hatcher fo sho though. That helps us out tremendously. _________________

Losing DWare would be much worse, believe me on that, lol.
I wonder if we will use Spencer at Mike sometimes. He has the all-around skillset to play there believe it or not. However, we need him to keep on doing what he has been doing.
Connor, Albright, Lemon, and Carter better hold the fort down at ILB for us. _________________

| Quote: | | Ratliff is definitely more of a one-gap nose tackle that can penetrate and get pressure on the quarterback. Even though his sack total has been declining, he is still very effective in that role. The Cowboys have always had the pass rushing element at nose tackle, but they haven't had more of a traditional space-eater. Brent is strong enough to take on the double teams, but he is also a pretty decent athlete. If he improves his pass rushing skills, he will be an all-around nose tackle. |
