Bills Sign Urbik to Extension

Good sign that Buffalo is keeping their players in house. Urbik has been a pleasant surprise, he has played great at the RG position and has filled in when needed at C when Eric Wood was injured.

He's been a good offensive lineman for Buffalo. The Bills need all the help there they can get. Good for Urbik and the Bills.

If its $15 million for 4 years, seems like pretty good value.

Oh, man. I'm so glad the Steelers gave up on this third rounder in a position of need after one season. We definitely didn't need a starting quality guard. Rolling Eyes

What's this mean for Levitre? Hopefully they don't resign him.

I think they still have plenty of money they have to reach the cap floor next year, so I would think both Levitre and Byrd is resigned.

Nice signing by Buffalo.

Never understood why they blew him off after just one year with all the problems they had on the OL when he was there. Confused

Cap space isn't quite as good as many people would think. The Bills had a lot of cap space last year, but much of that was carry over from being under cap the prior year.

I believe I heard that the actual amount paid in salaries by the Bills this year was above the cap, if not counting the extra they got.

That said, there are plenty of players not living up to sizable contracts that could easily be cut to make room for extending one of Byrd/Levitre and franchising the other.

The Bills are already in talks with Byrd, and I think it's pretty likely they can get at least one to extend, so I doubt either will be hitting free agency this year.

Need 2 guards, slide Urbik over to RG and let DD stay at LG.

I'm expecting us to re-sign both Levitre and Byrd. I don't think they'll let either go, especially Levitre, who is having a Pro Bowl-caliber year. Not sure if he'll make it based on him not being a "big name" but he certainly could be there. Byrd could as well. Money shouldn't be a problem. Barnett and Merriman are both free agents I believe and we don't know what will happen with Fitz. Older guys like Kelsay and Lindell could also be too pricey to keep around anymore so we'll address that in the offseason.

I like re-signing Urbik though. He's been really solid at RG. I'm glad the Steelers didn't give him a chance and we were fortunate enough to instead. He's paid off and has contributed to 1/5th of a very solid offensive line for us this year. Both him and Pears have been impressive on the right side since both got here.

Urbik is already at RG and DeCasrto plays RG. I'm sure Urbik would be fine at LG.

Good deal for Buffalo

The Bills might have the most underrated pair of guards in the league with Levitre and Urbik. As a Browns fan, I hope they're not able to resign Levitre so the Browns are able to sign him. If the Bills do retain Levitre, then hopefully they're not able to retain Byrd and the Browns can sign him. Very Happy
