Not feeling to confident about this one. I'm worried about this shuffled up offensive line struggling to pick up Dallas blitzing. I fully expect Romo to rip through our secondary, with or without Gamble, like every QB we face does. If we can get him to turn it over, maybe we'll have a chance.

Well, actually looks like I will be watching it. Not good news for us.
I hate being negative. I love Carolina. But I don't think I'm being a pessimistic. Just a realist. We're such an awful team and I struggle to believe we'll manage to slow down an excellent Dallas offense. It is saying something that, when our defense actually plays the best it has in two years, still gives up 31 points to Atlanta. Looked like a Junior High team against the Giants. Still struggled against New Orleans. Didn't look good against Tampa until they went conservative in the second half and Wilson at times looked like Joe Montana against our secondary. We're averaging only 18.4 PPG, giving up 25 PPG (thankfully we faced two inept offenses in Seattle/Tampa), and we're one of the four worst third down defenses in the NFL along with being the worst tackling team in football.
I just can't see how we win unless Chud gets his head out of his butt and realizes that we can't go vert every play. That is all we do now. Zone read option, then send our targets deep down field with no underneath option. We probably have the most predictable offense in the NFL as we never go under center and when we do, it is either playaction or a toss play.
FWIW, I don't necessarily think Chud is a bad OC. But his formula is horrible with what Hurney has built up. We're trying to be a high octane, pass first offense when our team has been built to be a run first, playaction offense. |
