It's not fair to tease me like this. If we're picking that late in the order the chances are very high that AJ Smith will remain as GM. If AJ Smith remains as GM then the chances of him using a 1st round pick on an OL (even with how scumtastic ours has been this season) are extremely low.
But I want Taylor bloody Lewan, dagnabbit! _________________

Dallas fans said the same thing about Jerry Jones and then they drafted Tyron Smith 9th overall. _________________

It's still an beyond horribly low-percentage projection. AJ Smith comes from a Management lineage that just didn't put a high priority on investing premium picks in OL (Bill Polian's). The Chargers haven't spent a 1st round pick on an OL since 1986 (3 years before Jones even bought the Boys).
It's not like our OL hasn't been an issue for a while. We haven't had anything remotely resembling an effective RT in well over a decade (save for one season, coincidentally a contract year, from Shane Olivea whose play promptly dropped off a cliff after he got paid). At one point we lost our starting LT to a career-threatening foot injury barely a month shy of the draft (in a class that was extremely shallow with legitimate pro-level LT prospects) and still AJ wouldn't draft Marcus McNeill until the 2nd round. In his entire tenure the OL he has drafted have been by a ratio of greater than 2:1 in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds as opposed to the 2nd and 3rd (he's never spent a 1st or 4th on one), all the rest have been UDFA's. _________________

| Good pick for the Vikings. I like Patterson's height, weight and speed ,seems like the ideal type of WR to go with Harvin and Simpson. |

O-line not a big priority. Give us a pass-rusher (preferably interior) or a Safety here. _________________
