Head Coach with "final say"
Chris Petersen head coach of Boise State
The Eagles need a total program rebuild and he is experienced with that. He has proven leadership and demands excellence. The offensive scheme that he runs is related to the one that the offensive coordinator of the Falcons runs because they came up through the ranks together.
http://www.idahostatesman.com/2012/10/20/2316927/bsus-offensive-coaching-tree-is.html
He has no NFL experience but what he does has found success in the NFL, plus his experience with leading a college program and making it a national name is impressive. He'll be assembling his own coaching staff to run a hybrid scheme.
Part of the offseason strategy is to get bigger and tougher. Also to remove any veterans with any perceived influence in the locker room in order facilitate a complete regime change and potentially aid developing leaders. Desean Jackson will be socially isolated on offense by being surrounded with so many new faces. His contract is too large to move. The object is to decrease his sphere of influence and even bench him if he doesn't begin giving 100% on the field. He will be used as an example of what an Eagle should not be moving forward.
Trade:
Jeremy Maclin for 4th rounder. Absolutely not going to resign the guy when he's just a poor man's Desean (for better and for worse) which makes him Reggie Brown...
Demeco Ryans for 5th rounder. He'll be 29 years of age and he's not a good fit moving forward with his $6+ million salary.
Mychal Kendricks 5th rounder. The era of the short linebacker ends...
Nate Allen for 5th rounder. The era of the soft defensive player ends.
Kurt Coleman for 7th rounder. See above..
WR Jason Avant traded to Cleveland Browns for WR Greg Little 6'2 220
CB Brandon Boykin traded to Saints for speedster WR Joe Morgan
4th rounder traded for 5th and 6th
1st trade down for 1st, 2nd, and 2014 2nd
Moved:
Avant
Celek
Harbor
Bell
Reynolds
Patterson
Jenkins
Matthews
kendricks
Nnamdi
Havili
allen
coleman
Damaris
Maclin
Team Salary $72,000,000 after cuts, trades, and before free agency

Draft:
1st (acquired after trading down) Manti Te'o ILB Notre Dame 6-2 255
He adds leadership at a critical position that has proven to be impossible to develop under the Reid regime. So you pull the trigger on the QB of the defense moving forward in a draft where there isn't an obvious QB talent that you'd be willing to gamble on as your franchise guy.

Don't like the Kendricks Trade and the Boykin trade.
I think like 7/11 picks were used on CB's or LB's. Which is overkill. _________________

I do like Greg Little a lot, as well as the selections of Sanders and King.
Don't think Petersen will come to the NFL at all. _________________

Yeah..Sanders Commings is a stud. No way he lasts to the 7th though...
This mock is a lot to take in...............
Trading Kendricks and Boykin is completely stupid.
I highly doubt Cleveland trades a promising young WR for Avant.... _________________

Very intriguing coaching candidate - never heard his name thrown around before, but if he had interest, I would certainly bring him in for an interview.
The offseason is way too busy, tough to follow because how many moves you make. Trading Kendricks, Boykin and Ryan is just silly. FA is not great and Little can't catch. |

We rarely see trades of first year players, especially with the Eagles. Kendricks and Boykin being moved makes no sense to me. Also, why would the Browns agree to give Little up for Avant?
I have no issue with the first few picks of the draft, but I highly doubt we trade Ryans anyway, so taking Te'o may or may not happen. But for the record, I have no issue with drafting him. _________________

| It's nice... but I see 0% chance of it happening. Coaching change is good. Maybe 1 or 2 of those trades are possible in my mind. |

The comment about the CB position being overkill was off because the top 3 cornerbacks that were on the team this year were moved in favor of free agents and draft picks. Marsh and Hughes are also positioned to be out the door.
I'm amazed no one commented on the Beatty at RT acquisition. Stroke of genius... Now the same sort of plays that were ran for Shady behind Peterson to the left have a chance of working to the right behind another athletic tackle.
The Boise State teams give full effort and have advanced innovative schemes on both sides of the football. I like the guy as a HC candidate in reality. |
