A part of me wants Gabbert to return ASAP to see if we have something for the future and another part of me wants Henne to start so we'll have the inside track to the #1 pick.

Gabbert has put together two complete games, Tampa last year and Minny this year. Gabbert has never had a start that was half as good as the start he had today. Henne didn't have turnovers, he just did absolutely nothing......he was pure crap. If you don't think we took a huge step back when Henne came in, you're delusional.

whatever...at best we went from 4th or 5th worst in the leauge to worst in the league...hardly a huge step. the delusion is that this team is any good with or without gabbert. in the long run...this just may be the stroke of luck we've needed. it will be really tough for khan to justify keeping smith if we finish with the worst record in the leauge, and really..isn't that what we really need--a new gm & the number 1 pick

Agreed.
With Henne in, on our scoring drives (3 FG's), we went 4 yards (started at Oak 36), 17 yards (started at Oak 39) and - 3 yards (started at Oak 24).
I'm fairly confident that with Gabbert, one of those series would have ended in a TD and we would be 2-4.
I don't think Blaine is good but if you watched the game today and are telling me we didn't take a huge step backwards with Henne in, I don't know what to say. Like his passes, weren't even close to being completed.

If we get the #1 pick on the back of not having MJD and Gabbert, it makes it much more likely that Smith stays and we don't use that pick on a QB.

Keep backpedaling. I never said the team was good with Gabbert, or even that Gabbert was good. I said that we are far better with Gabbert than with Henne. Which is fact.
And if Gabbert and MJD are out for the year, and we get number 1 without them, we probably won't get a QB.

I think Gabbert will be fine. He wasn't in a sling on the sidelines.
Mularkey said it wouldn't have been smart to play him after the injury but playing Henne is?

Gabbert had 110 yards and a TD in 12 dropbacks. Henne had 49 yards in 26 drop backs.
