If he's out for an extended period of time, we need to sign somebody to play QB. | Why? |
Sounds like a rotator...so no Gabbert possibly rest of year...can you stomach the rest of the year with Henne? _________________

I can't even watch Henne. I can't. I'd rather have Garrard. Or Brunell. He's a FA. _________________

The most awful part of it was that I don't even know if there is a good enough quarterback this year for us to draft. _________________

We'll trade you Terrelle Pryor for a klondike bar.
Sad to see your guys get injured, was clearly your game had that not happened. Sucks too because I'd much rather have a high pick than finish with 5 or 6 wins, our team is pretty bad. _________________

Despite the loss and the injuries, i thought there were at least some positives to take away from this game.
The defense and special teams actually looked to be making strides at times. There was some pressure that we haven't really seen any of thus far, though the Raiders O-Line gave us a big helping hand with that. Cox made some plays. Loved the gutsy onside kick surprise.
The interesting thing was how we seemed to lean more to the passing game when Jennings came in with MJD sidelined. Makes you wonder... A handful of nice passes too. The Shorts TD was pretty goofy, having to basically stop, and all but wave and shout 'i'm open' to Gabbert, rather than hitting him in stride. Can't really rely on coverage that busted to make Gabbert a legitimate NFL QB. But hey, i'll take it...means Gabbert was actually paying attention to things more than 5 yards down the field.
Of course, then Henne happened, and it didn't really matter what we did, it was just all bad. Like the team decided to actively find ways to lose the game. Oakland woke up a bit and got their act somewhat together...enough to put it away. That didn't help. But oh well. Another step towards a top pick, and at least we got almost half a game of something positive.
The funny thing is, i think the Gabbert injury worries me more than MJD at this point. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. It would be extremely frustrating if we don't get a full chance to evaluate Gabbert this year. But then again, hey, maybe sitting on the sidelines watching Henne try to dink and dunk his way embarrassingly to 3 and outs and pathetic offensive drives will help Gabbert realize how awful and annoying it is!
If we have to carry on with Henne at the helm though, it's going to be an even longer season than it seemed. Worse than Gabbert, and you don't even get that dim flicker of light at the end of the tunnel thinking, 'maybe one day he won't be so awful?' |
