He is undersized at 5'10, but I think Florida's S is one of the best in the upcoming draft. He should run around 4.4-4.5, and is a hard hitter. What are your thoughts and draft projections for him?

He's cocky that's for sure. Good trait for a secondary player...

He's definitely moved up. He's right there with Reid as the best safety. And finally, a safety not afraid to hit. Please Titans, find a way to get him.

Huge fan of Elam. Solid hitter and reads the game very well.

He obviously is a SS in the NFL
Great run defender and plays the box well but am I the only one who think he could be a liability in coverage?

Id take him late 2nd but im lower on him than most.

If he's covering a 6'6 TE sure. Otherwise he's looked good in coverage. Aggressive and will contest the pass...

He's a little undersized but I think he's proved he can cover some of the taller players.

He's one of those players that has a knack for being EVERYWHERE. He is either making a play, in on the play or coming to encourage his teammates for making a play.

Whoever picks this kid up is adding alot of energy and attitude to their lockeroom, sort of like Tyrann Mathieu but not too his level. He will be a solid starter in the league for a long time ala his former teammate Major Wright.

From what I have seen (admittedly not much) he strikes me (pun half intended) as a guy who forgoes the sure tackle for the big hit.

Guys like that drive me batty.

I love guys like that, becuase proper coaching should help him combine the 2.

Matt Elam is a tough prospect to evaluate.

He's undersized for his position but he's most definitely not afraid to stick his nose in there and mix it up. He can cover bigger, stronger TEs during man assignment pretty effectively. He loves to play special teams and is effective in that role, which is always a positive.

I think he is solely a one position prospect (SS) and that's not a positive when scouts are evaluating prospects.

One thing I will say about Matt Elam is that he sometimes is too agressive and plays wild and undisciplined. He over pursues or misses a tackle trying to make the highlight reel. I don't like that about his game, and I don't think scouts are going to like that either.

If he measures well at the combine, I can see him getting selected in the 3rd or 4th round because of his up-side, but right now, based on the tape I have seen, I'm just not very high on him.

I see a lot of the same in the NFL too.

He's a much better prospect than Major Wright.
