I know it's early, but I thought this would be fun to kick around. Here are the top 10 picks as of right now. Who would you like to target at our spot?
1) Chiefs
2) Browns
3) Raiders
4) Saints
5) Jaguars
6) Panthers
7) Titans
8) Bucaneers
9) Steelers
10 ) Colts
Barring a trade back and after the Chiefs and Browns take QB's, I would like to see the Raiders select Jarvis Jones. _________________

If we're at 3 hopefully it goes something like this
1- Geno Smith
2- Matt Barkley(doubt they take him)
3- Jarvis Jones/Star Loutele
Star is the best pass rusher that i've seen in this years draft, dude can be an absolute terror inside. Jarvis Jones has had a couple of bad games this year but he still has serious potential. I'd be happy with any of thoes 2 _________________

I want Star or Barkley. Kind of a USC homer pick, but I'm fine with acknowledging it. I really think he'd be a good fit for our offense. _________________

If we end up with the #3-#6 pick, it's my preference that we pick up an elite pass rushing DE or best DT prospect. At that point in the draft, these guys are usually can't miss. Maybe I'm jaded a bit from missing on first round picks, but these big defensive lineman drafted in the top 10 usually pan out to be pretty darn good. QB's have a much lower success rate. That, and Kelly and Seymour aren't going to last much longer.
Besides that, if we drafted a young QB, he wouldn't be contributing right away. He'd sit behind Palmer for a year or 2, because Palmer is doing just fine, we're not going to bench him. You get a big name DE or DT and he plugs in right away and he usually starts making an impact for your team in game 1.
My other thing has to do with my changing view of QB prospects. No longer is the day where they must sit and learn for 3 years to be good. Last 4-5 years we've got guys coming out of the draft and helping their teams right away. College QB's are changing, more prepared to come into the NFL. And if they don't do well, you can dump em in year 2 or 3 and move on without being a 7 year detriment to your franchise. Both financially and time wise. So, while we've got Palmer for the next couple of years playing well, there's no need to use a super high draft choice on a QB. (Unless he's Andrew Luck) We can wait till the moment when we truly need a QB, and nab him then.
That said. I don't think we draft that high. Our schedule isn't too difficult here on out and I think we end up between picks 8-15. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

I can see us grabbing the best available DT or DE, DT more than likely though. So a trade down would be cool. _________________

| I think the Houston experiment at DE is coming to an end, he's going back to DT. That leaves a bigger need DE. Houston can play UT and the Raiders can draft a quality NT in the third round. |

I think people need to get this notion out of their head. Houston wouldn't be any better inside. He's undersized and this isn't the University of Texas.
Fans keep point to this, but there has been ZERO indication ever that the staff feels his place is inside. Personally, I think he'd be a liability inside. _________________

He rotates to DT right now. It's not often but he still does. |

1) I doubt the Browns take a QB. Weeden is their guy, and if they were that concerned with his age they wouldnt have taken him in the 1st. My guess is they go pass rusher or DT, or trade back.
2) I am really coming around to the idea of drafting Star if available. It seems like he could single-handedly change our defense. It seems like every week there is another prospect I warm up to, which is a good thing because it likely means I'll be happy with whoever we pick. Right now I think my rankings go: Geno Smith, Star, Mingo, Barkley, Jones, but it is pretty fluid and I'm not set at all. If somehow all those guys are gone when our turn comes up, I want to trade back and take BPA at any position of need. _________________

I like Banks in the 1st if we cant trade back.
Preferably I would want 3 picks in the first three rounds. Take Trufant, Sheldon Richardson(beast), and Chase Thomas in rounds 2-3 with our 3 picks. |

I'll take Jarvis Jones we really need a player like him. I don't see a lot in this years QB's so I wouldn't try and take one high. I would put DE/OLB pass rush and CB as a higher need then any other position. _________________ I-O_O-I Hanley Ramirez " I SEE YOU! " |

I think the browns take a QB if he's there. After this year they'll be under new management after all. |

Holmgren fired today. Surprised? Shurmur, Brad Childress are on the chopping block if they don't win. New owner, New GM, New HC, New OC + a team without starpower and they'll pass on a Heisman winning QB (whoever that may be)?
I know you won't want to accept it because it doesn't fit with your scenario of the Raiders getting Genome. _________________ 2013 Mancrush: DT Richardson, OT Joeckel, FS Vaccaro, FS Rambo, WR Dobson, RB Michael, TE McDonald, OT Foketi, WR Swope |
