Joe Banner has always been the expected successor to Holmgren and will probably take over immediately. |
I find it funny how I said this when the new ownership took over, only to have every Brown fan mock me as if Holmegren was going to be kept around. lol |
Pretty sure that didn't happen. We all knew this was going to happen as soon as we heard about Haslam. _________________ Trent Richardson please!!! |

Yeah. I don't think any of us expected him to stay. _________________

The real question is which one of us is that "one guy"? _________________

Can we change the name of this thread to "Mike Holmgren to retire at seasons end"? _________________

I'm going to go out and say Mike Holmgren is one of the most overrated talent evaluators in football and I don't get why the Browns went after him in the first place. _________________

It wasn't for his talent evaluation.
It was because he had been a part of restarting 2 football front offices and making them competitive again. He hired Heckert to run the draft and talent as the GM and filled the coaching staff and scouts.
He was the Defacto owner because Lerner was never around and didn't know what he was doing.
As far as him evaluating talent, I believe the only time he pulled rank was forcing Heckert to draft Colt McCoy. _________________

His job was to provide a football structure to an organization that, due to poor management and bad ownership, was left a shambles. Even if his tenure did not lead to many wins it did re-establish a legitimate front office after the Mangin-Kokinis debacle. _________________
