The reason why I was so disappointed were for the following reason:
1) I know we have a top 3 Run D and could not stop them when we knew they were running it.
|
Frank Gore vs. the Seahawks thursday night:
16 Car, 131 yds, *AVG 8.2*
Enough said!!!!
Doesn't matter what the offense did the defense couldn't stop the run, simple as that! |
Actually it completely matter what the offense does. When our top5 D doesnt have a SPECTACULAR game we're screwed because even if the D holds to 13pts our offense cant match even that when our D is at its worst.
Sure the D was bad, but its also the only reason were above .500. Blaming the D for anything at this point is just plain dumb. They have been an elite unit this year and the offense has been among the leagues worst.
Anyone saying we're losing games cuz of our D is delusional. They can't be perfect every game when they get constant 3 and outs from our offense. Do you even know just how bad Russell was in the 2nd half this week? Watch the freaking game, you cant hang this D out to try like they have been all year long and then blame them when they get tired. |
While i don't think it will continue we most certainly can call out the Defense it wasn't like Wilson was having 8+ 3 and outs they came out there and played terrible after half time i don't expect it to continue but i am not just going to ignore it.
Wilson wasn't very good in the 2nd half if thats what you want to hear but the team pretty much came out flat imo it wasn't just one guy. |

Does anyone think 13 is the most points San Fran could have put up? If push came to shove and our offense pressured theirs to keep scoring, they would have. They were running at will against us. _________________

I feel like a few people are misunderstanding what we are saying..or at least I'm saying..
It was not that defenses fault that we lost. We were outplayed on offense, defense and special teams. It's the first game that we were beat in all three facets of the game.
What we're trying to say is that while the D only game up 13 points, they played below how we expect them to. Had they played like we know they can, we probably would have won the game. #1 Our offense would have had a chance to have at least 2 or 3 more possessions, and they probably would have only allowed 3-12 points.
Also, having the same expectation for O and D is not logical. Look at the Patriots and Colts offenses in years past..They could put up 30 points a game and still lose 30% of their games. If our O was as good as our D, we would be the SB favorites, but there are not...at least not yet. I have hopes that one day they can be there and put up 25 PPG.
Or look at dominant defenses with awful offenses? Remember Rex Grossman on a Bears team with great running and Defense? Or the Ravens prior to Flacco and Rice?
I've seem flashes of what both this O and D can become- it may take some time, but it will come. _________________

I've got final exams to study for. I'm not planning on waking up early for a non-Seahawks game. Also the late Sunday games are craptacular this week. |
