Because there's no way Casey Heyward is better than Richard Sherman. |
Yeah, it is all ratings, although many of PFF's ratings suck. _________________

I do not even remotely understand what nonsense grading logic has them putting Matt Ryan's game this week 2.6 points higher than Brandon Weeden's. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

I'd say all of their ratings suck, personally. I read their articles for the stats (X player gave up Y receptions on Z amount of snaps), but the ratings are horrible.
In no way do I believe Michael Robinson is a bottom*-5 FB in this league. _________________

Even their stats are flawed. I track a couple Chiefs myself to compare them to PFF, and they grossly exaggerate what constitutes a pressure, and most players have a few receptions, yards, and sometimes a TD or two that should be attributed to either other players, or no one. Making a tackle in coverage is often punished in PFF's stats, because they often then consider that man the most likely man to have been covering the receiver. _________________

Its not the better player its judging based of their statistical formulas who is having a better season. Casey Hayward has like 3 games this season where QB's have a QB rating of 0 against him. Not saying anything against Sherman but with the season Heyward is having I can see how a formula would have Heyward slightly ahead. _________________

Yup, they're atrocious at diagnosing zone coverages, and have other issues with coverage and interior line play due to not using all-22 film (and having a much higher opinion of themselves then actual ability to review play.)
It is what it is. |

Even if they had all-22 film they'd be incompetent at reading coverages and schemes. _________________

Weddle still T1. |
It is pretty simple. He is a pass rusher at the position that usually has players in coverage or playing run responsibilities with the odd blitz.
He still has to produce on his chances, but the fact is a LB in perfect zone coverage is going to get a 0.0 grade unless thrown at and he makes a play on the ball. A LB could seal the edge perfectly in the running game, but have the run go the opposite side. Again, he is going to get a 0.0 grade despite the fact that he has done exactly what was asked of him.
Then you look at a guy rushing the passer. As soon as there is a hint of pressure, a slight hurry you start getting positive grades. That is why when you look at the 3-4 defensive end or the 4-3 DT or the 43 OLB grades are even the ILB/MLB grades the guys who are attacking the QB, creating pass rush pressure are always those with the higher grades. Because a pass rusher getting a hurry is infinitely easier to grade than a weakside LB playing contain to prevent huge cutback lanes.
Put simply, those linebackers asked to play run contain and prevent the cutbacks don't get rewarded for their job when they do it perfectly, but get heavily punished when they don't. Those who rush the passer more often get rewarded even if they only do a part of their job (Hurry), but often don't get punished when they don't do anything. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I was really out of it, don't worry though I edited it and corrected my mistakes.
I still think their love of Mathis is the worst, I don't even understand what they could be seeing from any perspective that would warrant such a high rating for Mathis. He has been average at best this year... _________________
