Could have sworn there were 10 other guys on the field when he turned the ball over, too. |
5 lost fumbles, numerous picks into double and triple coverage. Not the other players' fault IMO. |
So you're prepared to say none of those were tip drills, none had anything to do with o linemen blowing their responsibilities, or allowing rushers to plow in unblocked, etc?
Vick is absolutely to blame for many of them. He is also absolutely the impetus for the big 4th quarter drives. _________________

Yeah I know. I'm just in my "screw Vick" phase right now. Seems to be a running theme over the last two seasons.
It's really a bummer that it's our defense carrying this team for 2012, waiting for the offense to catch up. Seemingly every other year in the Reid regime, minus a couple with Dawk and JJ, it was the opposite. _________________

^It's stupid considered how our offense was in '10, and part of in '11.
Need to cut out the TO's, Maclin to get healthy and I think we can get back on track. And as much as I love our D, if they delivered some big plays it could potential give a spark. _________________

Maclin will never get healthy at this point. We need to move on. _________________

He does get a little banged up in just about every game.
But there is now way Reggie Brown, James Thrash, or Kevin Curtis were better than him. Just wanted to get that out there, again. _________________

agreed. but i also believe its time to move on. next year we should make a real play on a real WR. having a bigger and better all around WR is a must. _________________

This weekend certainly presents any opportunity for the entire passing attack to breakout.
Detroit's D might not be bad, but their secondary most certainly is. _________________

-Vick's fumbles are obviously an issue and probably cost us this game, but the good news is that he has looked much better throwing the ball since the Giants game, and has surprisingly fared well against the blitz. Completion wise, he was 11 for 15 against the blitz on Sunday. Keep in mind he was also sacked on 2 of those completions. Hopefully this trend continues. Fumbles thankfully are correctable.
-PFF was not very kind to our linebackers for their performances over the weekend. As most of us noted, Kendricks really struggled on Sunday with both tackles and in coverage. His solid play in the beginning of the season has quickly faded over the past several games, but we have to remember that he's still just a rookie. His stat-line had him missing 5 tackles and he allowed 4 catches on 5 targets in coverage. He also struggled against the run.
-Chaney also struggled against the run, receiving a -4 grade from PFF. I noticed he was struggling to shed blockers, and the Steelers' interior guards really had a field day against our linebackers. They have big guards that aren't good pass protectors, as we saw with their constant holding, but they're big and stout against the run. Notably Colon and Pouncey.
-Nnamdi allowed 6 catches on 8 targets over the weekend, but for a measly 45 yards as mentioned in the Scrabble watch thread. Not his best game, but Big Ben really gave our defense fits with his 3 step drop and throws. Brown also isn't a good matchup for Nnamdi given the former's speed and agility. Tackling-wise, he was sound, which was an issue for him last year. I'm eager to see him go at it against Megatron.
-DRC received a negative grade from PFF, which seems kind of harsh. He had several PD and allowed just 2 catches on 6 targets while shadowing Wallace throughout the day. Sure, he missed a couple of interceptions, but I thought he played tremendous.
-Juan has to find a way to negate the chip blocking and QB's stepping up in the pocket. Whether that means sending more guys to blitz or not is his call, but it's time for some adjustments because right now the line isn't getting enough pressure. That said, props to Big Ben for playing a solid game.
-Boykin allowed 5 catches on 6 targets. He's been exposed these past 3 games.
-Graham was really the only disruptive end as he totaled 2 hurries. |
Bring on the delayed blitz - send Kendricks or Ryans in the A gap _________________

Scary fact of the day
| Quote: | | Michael Vick has turned the ball over 52 times in his last 21 games |
That is nearly 2.5 turnovers a game - no wonder we are 31st in scoring and have a negative turnover differential. That's not even including the fumbles from other players. _________________

^Bad luck
Sadly I can't think of an solution where Vick will turn the ball less. _________________
