Wednesday, Louis Delmas, Amari Spievey, and rookie linebacker Travis Lewis all made it back to the practice field after run-in with injuries.
Quote: | The Lions got some very good news Wednesday as safety Louis Delmas returned to the practice field for the first time since July. Delmas didn’t seem limited at all in the portion of practice open to the media. |
Quote: | The Lions also got rookie linebacker Travis Lewis back on the practice field. Lewis hasn’t played since Week 1 because of quad injury.
Safety Amari Spievey was also back at practice. He missed Sunday’s game against the Vikings with a groin injury. |

Well, this is what bye weeks hopefully help with. I hope all these guys can stay on the field for the rest of the year. |

Shoot, now that they've benched Wendling, he might get the start at safety. |

They have a decision to make between Coleman, Amari and Silva. _________________

I heard that Amari actually earned back his starting spot before last weeks game but the injury kept him out. Did anyone else hear this? |

Where did you "hear" it? An no I didn't "hear" anything or read anythign from anywhere either. Doesn't make it untrue though.
Honestly, Ricardo Silva is being the most physical out of those three players. To me it should be between Coleman/Silva starting next to Delmas. I'd love for Lions to actually find a capable player in Silva this year so next offseason we don't go into it with holes at EVERY position in the secondary. (Chris Houston/ Louis Delmas are free agents.) |

I went back and looked at the news articles taking about Silva getting the start. The Detroit News said:
Quote: | Spievey might have been the starter, but he was limited all week with a groin injury. His injury opened created the need to sign Silva off the practice squad. |

Hehe.
As for Spievey: he was never great, but... man... he was never terrible, either. We could do a lot worse out there. (Adding Spievey and Delmas to the secondary in one week would be... huge.) _________________

I agree, although he needs to be upgraded, he was likely our best S last year when Delmas went out. So even if he is just the best of a bad bunch, he is an improvment to what has actually been a rather solid defensive back group (I know we watch and they make dumb plays but statistically we are 9th in the league in pass yards allowed). |

Spievey has always been pretty much invisible to me. Which is okay because we've been dealing with "remarkably bad" for most of the year so far. |
