To be fair, Wayne Hunter was terrible for the Jets. Plus isn't Jason Smith playing decently for them now? Looks like both just needed a change of scenery... |
Smith has been very good in the 6th blocker role. He's played a decent amount of plays, yet I haven't heard his name mentioned once. That's a good thing for offensive linemen. _________________

I thought Dom should have been fired last year. He is a terrible play caller and constantly forces zone upon our D, when it has been painfully proven over and over again that our secondary is much better in man.
He's not the worst, that's for sure. But he's one of the biggest weaknesses on our D, and its extremely frustrating to see him bust out the zone time and time again. _________________

I actually think the top 2 are unqualified for the jobs they hold, and that there is enough evidence to support that conclusion. And having experienced a genuinely poor co-ordinator recently (Van Gorder, not Mularkey) I don't mind asserting that there are poor OC's/DC's.
However, I agree with you in that most of this is the inability to emotionally distance themselves when analysing their teams' players (no-one has ever "supported" a co-ordinator). The presence of guys like the bottom 5 on the vilified list is an apt demonstration of that. _________________

Pats fans are laying off McDaniels for at least a week. He did well this weekend, actually sticking with the run when it was working. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

The Raiders a replaced a brilliant, albeit dangerously insane offensive mind with Greg Knapp, whose name is pretty much synonymous with failure. _________________

Greg Knapp is probably the worst...He has made a terrible job with Michael Vick and the falcons(2004-2006)....The offense of seahawks in 2009 were painful to watch
I do not understand why the raiders have hired Knapp as OC _________________

There is no doubting Hunter played poorly for the Jets. How he's playing now has no bearing on how terrible he was with the Jets.
Same with Schotty. He wasn't working out here in NY. He and Sanchez are not a good match, and while we're quickly learning that there may be no OC that can work with Sanchez, Sparano seems to have a better offense for the Jets. |

Both have had runs where they looked solid. Hunter wasn't bad in 2010, in 2011 he was downright awful, then looked terrible in preseason. Austin Howard has done a MUCH better job at RT than Hunter did. Hunter needed a change of scenario, he has no mental toughness.
Jets fans have not based their opinion on Schotty because of 1 QB or season, we had 6 or so years of forming a opinion on him. He has called some good games before
Its funny listening to Rams fans criticize Jets fans about Schotty and Hunter, based on only a few games. We are more than happy that they are gone and I don't think many of us felt like they were the ONLY issue with this team. _________________

Its hard to evaluate Sparano fairly when he has pretty much nothing to work with on offense. I like the offense better, but the talent just sucks here. A inconsistent QB, a awful RB, and inexperienced WRs that just lost their only proven one. _________________

Don't forget that he is without the Jets' leading receiver from last season, Dustin Keller. _________________

Bevell is definitely up there. He only calls the pass plays as well, Tom Cable handles our run calls (which have been great so far, surprise surprise)

I also don't understand why (some) Raiders fans expected something more out of Knapp than what he did in Seattle in 2009. It wasn't just an issue of player personnel, he is just a crap OC. His gameplans suck and he brought in crap players. _________________

True.... Unless Hill's hamstring magically gets better, the Jets are going to be with only 3 WRs vs the Texans since they released Turner today. Kerley, Schilens, and Gates. Amazing group right there. _________________

Tough call between McDaniels and Knapp. Dom Capers is the worst on defense. _________________ Stop slobbering over Brian Dawkins |
