FA addition signings:
Andy Levitre OG - Replaces Bernadeau and starts at RG. Letting Spencer walk gives us the cap space to sign Levitre.
Unresigned/Cuts:
Anthony Spencer - will be too expensive to keep with our salary cap issues.
Gerald Sensabaugh - declined play and helps with salary cap.
Eric Frampton
Doug Free - production has declined and is too expensive to keep.
Kenyon Coleman
Mike Jenkins
Felix Jones
Brady Poppinga
Phil Costa
Mackenzy Bernadeau
1st round: Enzekiel Ansah OLB - The Cowboys need a replacement for Spencer and this it it. I think he will blow up the combine and he will go in the first round. Has good size and great speed with long arms. He is still raw but I think Rob Ryan will make him a stud. With his name being compared to JPP I think Jerry will get flashbacks of how JPP ruined our chance to go the playoffs in 2011 and will want to get someone similar.
2nd round: Matt Elam Florida S - Gerald Sensabaugh is 30 and is becoming a liability. This pick gives us more speed and some hard hitting ability in the secondary. With Elam and Church our secondary is finished.
3rd round: Ricky Wagner Wisconsin OT - Battle between him and Parnell for the RT position in TC.
4th round: William Gholston MSU DT/DE - Another player with really good potential. Can be the backup nose in case of injury but will play DE.
5th round: Brandon Jenkins FSU OLB - His Specialty is pass rushing and could fill Victor Butler's role nicely. His injury this year at FSU costs him a couple of rounds in the draft.
6th round: CB |
I am actually okay with this. The only thing I would do different is keep Costa and draft a RB. _________________

No way for two RB's imo and I'm starting to think we should look elsewhere about Hunt. I really liked him and his potential until I seen that he will be 26 next season |
Lattimore would be an early round draft pick if not for the gruesome injury he sustained. He will be put on reserve and stashed for Murray's contract year in 2014. If Murray proves to be an injury prone back, would you want to sign him long term or have a back there and ready to assume the starter role?In the mean time, Dunbar and Montel Harris would provide the backup roles in 2013. _________________

I dont know the Salary cap around and it is tough to understand. I know players restructure their contracts constantly and creates alot of space. So I wont include #s in this mock offseason.
F/A:
Matt Slauson: Is a Callahan Guy and in this Mock I have Bernedeau moving to C and costa his Backup
Andre Smith: If it is possible with the salary cap then great,
Osi Umenyiora: Suprise, I have us moving to a 4-3 in the offseason, which would make Ware exclusive pass rusher and w spencer gone, this will help our pass rush.
Peyton Hillis: I think he could be had cheap and is a strong and effective runner. also seems like Tanner regressed a little this off season.
DRAFT
1st Round: Chance Wormack OG Bama
2nd Round: Alex Okafor DE Texas
3nd Round:Phillip Thomas S Fresno ST
4th Round: Kyle Long OL Oregon
5th Round: Nick Kasa TE Colorado
6th Round: Alex Hurst T LSU
Team:
QB: Romo, Orton
RB: Murray, Hillis, Dunbar
TE: Witten, Hanna, Kasa
WR: Bryant, Austin, D.Harris, Beasley, Coale
C: Bernedeau, Costa

I'm very intrigued by the possibility of going back to a 4-3. I'm going to try and get a mock for it up by this afternoon. I love the possibilities. _________________

nah, I read okay. should maybe look for some glasses, huh?
- It wasn't my intention to destroy your fun or anything, just trying to discuss why you had them ranked that late. I'm sorry that you took it that way. I do see that I expressed it in a bad way. Just wrote it to get a discussion for why you had them ranked there. I don't have a problem with people ranking players to go a whole other place then so called "experts", I've done that myself. And year after year, the NFL teams also shows that their rankings often has some players ranked a whole other place. Just trying to get arguments for why you have the players ranked there, would never do it to directly say that they are stupid and wrong or anything. I have also had my share of big misjudgements of prospects as everybody else, everyone could be as right as anyone.
Personally, I like it when people disagree with where players on my mock is ranked, as long as they have some arguments for it.
Again, I didnt read your intro well enough and only did it to get some discussion, never intended to "jump on you". Again, i'm sorry, my fault. |

There is some things in this one that I really do like. The first four rounds I do love, even tho I do see Travis Long as a player who should go in the last part of the 3rd round from what I've seen of him, but he defintly could fall further because of a deep passrusher class. I don't believe in resigning Spencer, but I wouldnt mind Long as a starter actually. He is very good against the run while being able to rush the passer and not being terrible in coverage. Again, from what i've seen. Which is not that much.
Also, I would want Burnedeau cut since I believe Arkin, Kowalski and Leary all have more potential. Also, Livings should win the other guard spot over Burnadeau rather easy IMO. Also, I don't get why you have Cook infront of Costa on your depth. Cook have stunk it up often this season.
Jordan Hill, is that for when we are lining up in more of a 4-3?? because I do see him having a lot of problems because of his size with playing 3-4 in the NFL. Don't think that he could do that at all in the NFL on a regular basis. but I do like the player.
Overall, I really do like your draft. |

young_gunner, I do like that, but there's a lot of thing I don't believe in. One of them is to much money in FA, but as you say you are not quite sure on the cap so I won't start a discussion about that.
I would love your three first rounds of the draft, but why do you think that Okafor would be avalible in the 2nd when we pick, which should be mid/late?
Would have liked a 4-3 OLB for depth in one of the later rounds. Sims is pretty much the only backup who I believe effectively could play a 4-3 OLB.
Burnadeau needs to be cut, and I don't think at all he would be the starter at center. He stinks, and when he played center this season, he stunk even worse. He couldn't even snap the ball properly, nearly every shotgun snap was waaay too low. I especially noticed this in the clutch, which is not a good time at all to do that. Would rather start Costa and keep Kowalski to be his backup.
Also, we would never keep Free as a backup with that pay. Personally, i'm one of those few believers who still think that he could bounce back, but I'm starting to gain a little faith in Parnell being able to handle it. |
