Not bad Shine, not bad. I think Levitre will get a contract similar to the deal that Ben Grubbs signed with the Saints (5 years, $36M). Also, I think Burkhead will go much later than round 3. But I am a big fan of Burkhead, and think that the Plano connection is pretty cool. He was a legend in high school

Dang Levitre's worth THAT much? Didn't know he was that good. Perhaps all the more reason to sign him. We need a few good new starters or one really good new starter on that mess of a line. I like Burkhead a lot too! There were probably better back projected nearer I could have put. but I tend to look at mocks more from a position picked standpoint so don't be surprised if I over or underrate some players. Thanks for the ffedback!

He might get slightly less than Grubbs, but I think he will get overpaid on the open market if he doesn't get the franchise tag, just because he is one of the only good interior linemen available.

Yeah, Burkhead is awesome. Some of the stories about him from high school are hilarious. Like, I heard that when he was a 5'8 freshman in high school, the basketball coach saw him dunk and offered him a spot on the team. Legend also says that he went to prom with a senior during his freshman or sophomore year. Cant remember which one

I like the idea of this center but no way we can have a draft without a single guard drafted, if we go center first we need a guard in the 2nd or vice versa

Wouldn't be surprised if we don't draft a single O-lineman though. Jerry's in love with how our line played.

*BUMP*

and

The mock of hope in the midst of my depression.

We bring out the sucks and go 7-9.

We lose Spencer. He's becoming very good, but that's why we aren't able to bring him back.

FA signings:

JAKE LONG, 6 years, $some obscene amount
WTF OMG JERRY U R A GAWD!
We pull off a huge signing, kicking Free the heck out of town. His release is a big reason we have the money to sign Long.

Draft:

We pick 10-12

R1: OLB Barkevious Mingo
Jerruh gets his flashy first round pick, and none of us would argue. Spencer's replacement

TRADE

Jaxonville gets: Dallas gets:
Dallas R2 (43) Jax R2 (33)
Dallas R4

R2 (Jax): NT Louis Nix III
The guy that can hopefully push Rat over to DE, and providing a healthy rotation between him and someone else and Nose

R3: OG Larry Warford
Huge, plug and play guard out of Kentucky. Much more athletic than one might think of a 6-3, 335 lb beast.

TOO LAZY FOR THE REST OF THE DRAFT

Lineups:

Defense:

Hatcher- Nix III- Ratliff

Mingo- Carter- Lee- Ware

Carr- McCray- Sensabaugh- Claiborne

Offense:

Bryant Long- Livings- Costa- Warford- Smith- Witten Austin

QB:Romo

FB:Vickers
RB: Murray

* Beasley is our slot WR
* We keep Jones
* This is pretty unrealistic, but I can dream, no?
* It doesn't show alot of spaces, so I now have to Edit and put our backs serperately. Sorry about that.
*Bernie competes with Costa for center

Don't feel like posting the full offseason like I usually do, but what about something like this.

Sign Levitre

Trade back into the late teens...

1) Damontre Moore OLB Texas A&M
2) Barrett Jones C Alabama
2) Tony Jefferson S Oklahoma
3) Sylvester Williams DE North Carolina
4) Zac Dysert QB Miami (OH)
5) Marcus Davis WR Virginia Tech
6) Leon McFadden CB San Diego State

You wont get a 2nd round pick for moving back 6 or 7 spots.

Levitre will cost too much for the cowboys to sign

Barrett Jones will not last until the 2nd round

Interesting, lets say we were moving back from 12 to 18. 12th pick is valued at 1200 points. 18th pick is valued at 900 points. They have to cover at least 300 points to move up, and it will usually be more than that for the team looking to move up. The 50th pick (2nd rounder for other team) is worth 400. So yeah, maybe we include a 5th rounder to bring the price down a little bit, but its a lot closer than you were making it out to be.

Why won't we have enough to sign Levitre? At most he costs Grubbs kind of money, which was about 5 years, $36M if IIRC. I also remember hearing we are about $5M under the cap currently, including the penalty. Not to mention we are sure to make a couple of cuts/triggers to save more money. If we don't bring back anybody significant (which I don't have us doing) then it is certainly plausible.

Due to the strength of interior linemen in this draft, Jones could most certainly fall to the second round. He doesnt have the ceiling of Warmack or Cooper, and heck, even Dallas Thomas is getting graded higher by some people (not that I agree with it, just making a point). Peter Konz was a sure fire first round guy, but he slipped. I could see a similar draft day fall for Jones.

I am just going off everything that I've seen Jones going from the late teens to end of the first. Plus with so many people having OL issues this year I could see a run on OL late in the 1st. Plus with his versatility I could see that as an added plus compared to the other OL in the draft.

I don't know the draft value chart, but just going off what I've seen in past years that dropping 6-8 spots would only land an early third.

Where do you see the Cowboys picking in the draft?

My point about signing Levitre is that there are teams 30-40 million under the cap, and this is the 1st year that teams have to spend 90% of their cap or will lose it. So I think that many teams will be spending crazy money on players in FA this year to reach that threshold.

if we draft say #10

1) Tyler Wilson Qb - let him sit for a year or two under Romo but we need a future qb soon
2) Larry Warford OG - Big body guard who can start for us badly needed
3) Mario Benavides C - four year starter who will be a big upgrade
4) Lane Taylor OG - another starter on the line
5) Stephan Taylor RB - we badly need an rb who can get yards and first downs, Taylor is a tough runner
6) Joe Vellano DE - another young defensive end along with Crawford
7) Jordan Mills OT - young depth at tackle

In all honesty, I can see us winning just one more game this year, and we end up picking somewhere between 8 and 12
