It happens to mine every now and then. Assuming you're on Windows 7, search for Services and turn off and back on Apple Mobile Device.

I only have iPhone 4 (not bad), iPad3 (love it), and Apple TV 3 (junk without jailbreak that may never come).

It is dumb that they changed the charger port, now if you forget yours you can't borrow you friends or use an iPod one. No reason to change it, either. So stupid.

There's quite a few reasons to change it. It's a digital port now, so it's faster, can get even faster as technology grows without being handicapped by an analog connection, can send more data (iPhone -> HDMI is now possible), can do more, can continue to do more, takes up less space, the design is less prone to breaking, and several other reasons.

Not really sure. Movies, music, sports, etc apps, I guess. I've never owned a Mac so I have no clue about the apps and all that jazz.
I have the new iPad and just ordered Apple TV to set up with my new TV I just bought yesterday.

What exactly is IceFilms? I Googled it and it seems to be an addon to XBMC that gives you access to file sharing?
