Why rush him back? This is stupid. He's obviously pretty injury prone as it is

This. I'm liking what I'm hearing as it wasn't as severe as a tear than other Achilles tears. But Agree. Unless he's 100% in football shape, then I don't want to risk any further injury.

DE Da'Quan Bowers gets back on the practice field for the first time since his Achilles injury in May

Nice to see the big man practicing again!

Agree and disagree. They talked about his tear being more off te heal than the achillies tendon which isn't that bad nor long of recovery. That's why e may suit up this year.

I really am curious as to what the true injuries were on both Suggs and Bowers. Both were supposed to be out for the year, both back to practice this week.

Heck Suggs is saying he's gonna play this week Shocked

I love the heart he has, but wish him the best as if he gets another injury could mean his career I think. The sad thing is that it hasn't even started yet.

If he does come back, I want him to be our number 3/4 guy. Rotate him in slowly. He's got the talent and he'll be hungry, but I don't want him to be taking a bunch of snaps early. Hell, I wouldn't be upset if he was our fifth option his first week back.

We've got the potential for a great rotation of Bennett/Clayborn/Bowers at DE. I don't wanna screw that up.

From everything I've read that will be the plan. I've been following it pretty closely.

We have 3 weeks (less, now) to decide if we want to play him at all this year. Schiano has said he needs to get into playing shape first and that they have no intentions of rushing him back. If he does start seeing the field it will be slowly like you just mentioned and they may not put him into a full starter position at all this year.

When bucs insider spoke to bowers he said doctors have cleared him and said he can play this year.

Also he did state that he feels much better after recovery from the heal /Achilles injury than he did after the knee scope last year.

***UPDATE: Bucs release DE Markus White. No word on who they signed. But it's interesting that Bowers could be activated.

Read that about White also, extremely interesting. I'm sure the Bucs have done their due diligence on the risk of reinjury if Bowers plays this year.

Doctors have said after a tear like his which wasn't as severe the risk of re-injury is low especially since he was cleared to play.

At least his knee has been given a bunch of extra time off as well. Laughing

A healthy Bowers is right up there with Mccoy in terms of talent. Towards the end of last year he practically lived in the opposition's backfield. If he is truly healthy and good to go, we got ourselves a top notch player here. I'm so torn, he's one of my favorite players and I can't wait to see him in action again, but I don't want him to get hurt again.

Neither does the coaching staff. They've said quite a few times that he is only seeing the field if and when he's ready. If he makes it out there, it'll be alright for him.

I'm just sad we didn't get to see Bowers out there with Clayborn and McCoy.
