So the 2012-13 NFL Season has officially started and starting tomorrow we begin to have the pleasure(used ironically in some cases) of listening to announcers give us play-by-play as well as color commentary for every game we watch. That is unless you're like my uncle who does the color commentary for his own games.

That said there are 18 slated Announcing teams for this upcoming season. Every one of these guys have called games in the past with the exception of Mike Martz. So you should be aware of these guys' abilities if you've done more than just watch the premier game on the slate each week.

Here are the 18 known slated teams for this upcoming season. Rank them - to the best of your ability - and if you can then give your reasons as to why.

i dont even know all of them. But i do like Jon Gruden and Mike Trico. Also Mike Mayock.

Al Michaels is overrated, he shows almost no emotion and he's a rich mans Joe Buck

Those 2 teams are tops for me with NFLN being the #1. Mayock is just an information nut and he gets that info out to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't come across as a no-it-all like most do.

My Top Ones:
CBS Team 1: Jim Nantz, Phil Simms
~ Although Simms has been getting on my nerves as of late with an obvious Pro-Pats bias and an Anti-Steelers agenda the last two times they've played the Jets the fact that they keep you interested in the game. They don't give you fluff pieces. They don't manipulate information. They tell you about what is going on on the field and back it up with replays, etc.

Fox Team 2: Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
~ While Goose sometimes gets the gamecast off track Albert and Johnston usually do a good job of doing exactly what Nantz and Simms do but remaining more entertaining at the same time. However, they don't seem to have the same understanding of the game in regards to breaking it down for the everyman.

CBS Team 2: Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
~ Gumbel and Dierdorf don't seem to have the same ability as the others but they can play off of one another well. Diedorf sometimes offers good visual evidence breakdown on the teleprompter but nowhere near as the two guys above. Gumbel is everybit as good as Nantz as a play-by-play guy if I'm being honest and probably not as dry.

My Bottom Ones:
NBC Team 1: Al Michaels, Chris Collinsworth
~ Al Michaels is amazing as a play-by-play guy. Collinsworth is just terrible. Always relating his playing days to All-Pros of today. Making up stories from production meetings. Pretending to know what "double coverage" is and thinking everything he says is fact... And that corny laugh.

Fox Team 1: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman (+ Pam Oliver)
~ Troy Aikman is pretty good. Doesn't break it down via teleprompter, etc, but he doesn't really have to. He doesn't talk DOWN to the viewers but he doesn't talk up to them either. He explains complex concepts in laymen's terms. He rarely is bias too. Joe Buck, however, is just terrible at everything. And he thinks everything he says is a fact and feels the need to express his opinion as if it's fact.

ESPN Team 1: Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden
~ "This guy... I'll tell you about this guy!" Enough said. This team might become a lot better now that Jaws is no longer in the booth and there aren't TWO guys professing everything they say as fact. Now Gruden will just be that guy. However, he always makes guys seem like All-Pros or complete busts. Tirico is probably one of the three best play-by-play guys in my opinion.

NFL Network Team: Brad Nessler & Mike Mayock
Nessler is just boring and doesn't really capture my interest. However, I do give props to him for starting the Marshawn Lynch skittle phenomenon by bringing so much attention to it last TNF. However, Mayock is unbearable. I understand his primary job is Draft Analyst but he relates EVERYTHING back to the draft. If a player makes a tackle he tells you the guys name and then when he was drafted and where from and if he had that ability coming into the league, etc. Everything doesn't relate back to the damn draft Michael!

ESPN Team 2: Chris Berman, Trent Dilfer
This team has never actually called a game together. However, Trent Dilfer is more pompous than Collinsworth, Jaworski and Gruden... possibly combined. I like Chris Berman but it will be interesting to see him as a play-by-play guy instead of a highlight guy.

I am interested to see how Mike Martz transitions to the booth. Chad Pennington was really good last season.
