Remind me how many have been hit during a regular game?
Cowboys stadium is amazing.. but me thinks the budget is a little different in minny.

if the Vikings want a retractable roof, then their owners have to pay those extra costs themselves.

Good luck with that. The Pittsburgh Penguins had this with the Civic / Mellon Arena. Of course, times have changed, as the Civic Arena was built several decades ago. After many years, it was merely costing too much to open and close it.

It would be cool if they built a stadium without a roof on it. Everyone would hate to play there in the winter.

since the Minnesota legislature is contributing public funding, it is mandatory that it be a roofed stadium so can be used year round for non-football events too.
the owners of the Vikings, the Wilf family, are also talking about purchasing a major league soccer team and bringing it to the facility. and they have of course petitioned for a Super Bowl bid.

| To build an outdoor stadium in a climate like Minnesota is just not practical, other than for creating a perception of a home field advantage in the cold. Reality is, the Vikes needed a roofed stadium to even get a bill passed. It simply wasnt in the cards but a retractable roof is what is likely. |

I think they made the right choice. That architectural firm should be able to retire half of it's employees after inking Colts, Cowboys, Vikings stadiums all within the past decade. Incredible success.
