|
|
|
After two days of face-to-face interviews and weeks scrutinizing renderings and portfolios, the Minnesota Vikings finally have their architect.
A nearly two-month search for the firm that will design the new $975 million Vikings stadium ended Friday morning when the team and the public board overseeing construction of the project selected HKS Inc. of Dallas, which recently designed new NFL stadiums for the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts.
http://www.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/171776421.html?refer=y
the Viking ownership has stated their desire to make a stadium that is a hallmark feature and one which showcases the culture of the area. it is still pending whether it will have a retractable roof or not, which is not included in the legislature's spending appropriations. _________________

love ya VD (that sounds bad! )
But is this really NFL News? Seems more suited for the Minnesota forum or NFL Gen than here.
New stadium approved/lease extended = NFL News.
Architecture chosen? - ehh no IMO _________________ Stay low boys.... keep those feet moving!

My buddy worked for HKS (tampa office) when the Cowboys stadium was being designed.
Said that was by far the largest set of drawings he had ever seen.
With that said..My firm should have made a submission _________________

well, excuuuuuuse me!
teams' stadiums are built for the long haul, we have them in the NFL for 15-40 years. they are local benchmarks that help define the team.
an article about designs and such for a new stadium, to me, is far more interesting than an article about someone picked up for drunk driving, and the foolish posts that often follow.
here's a potential conversation topic:
the same architect also designed the Cowboys' and Colts' new stadiums. how have those worked out? are the fans pleased with their designs? _________________

I like how Lucas Oil Stadium looks like a big warehouse from the outside. _________________

I agree good Sir... but the arrests affect the player and the game.
The fact that the Vikings got a stadium deal means they stay in Minnesota for the long haul which is the important thing.
Its definitely a great topic for conversation... just not "news" worthy _________________ Stay low boys.... keep those feet moving!

| Someone should have submitted a design of a ship for the exterior molding. I think it'd have been awesome. |
