I'm surprised we're not 0-3 with Avant as our 3rd string WR

@PowerElite

I'd love to know where you came to the conclusion that every 1st round pick needed to become a pro-bowl calibre player to be deemed a successful pick.

First off, that's ludicrous. Secondly, he's started in just 15 games. Not to talk down to you like a child, although I feel like I should at times, but have you ever heard of something called "patience"? If not, you should get on that ASAP.

Meanwhile, the stats indicate that he's been a very solid player ever since being inserted into lineup as the starting RG. He's allowed a grand total of 1 sack in 15 starts, and so far this season he has yet to be flagged. The Eagles have also been successful running the ball behind the right side of the line in the early going too, so why he's being criticized when there are so many other issues with this team right now is beyond me.

Once again, your bold statements leave a lot to be desired.

We could have a whole separate thread for what our expectations of rookies should be or not, although I really think it's just a drawn out topic that's been regurgitated and puked out so many times not even Alice would think about stuffing her face with it.

Right, but the only thing that I wanted to really add was that even IF, and that's a big if, we all accepted the premise that 1st round picks must morph into pro-bowl level players to be deemed successful picks, then we need to wait this out and see if Watkins ever reaches that level in his days in midnight green. Simply put, 15 starts just isn't a big enough sample size to properly judge his overall quality as an NFL player.

I concur with all that you say.

So Heckert goes to Cleveland and brings with him guys like Dmitri Patterson, Juqua Parker, Chris Gocong, Sheldon Brown...

Wouldn't that mean those were all guys he especially liked? People claim Andy is the judge/jury/executioner of all draft picks but honestly, the amount of former Eagles than Heckert has dragged to Cleveland says otherwise.
