I saw the play and didn't think it was that flagrant.
Yeah, it was a horse collar and he deserved the penalty but it really wasn't all that violent a tackle. _________________

| I dont know how pay works for these players, but if Smith is making $390,000 salary in 2012, as he is, that would be about $23,000 per week (for 17 weeks). So he has essentially lost about two weeks worth of pay for all of his fines through Week 6. |

But he got a $3.6 million signing bonus. I don't think he's hurting for cash.
And I don't see the fine as a problem. Fines are handed out to deter players from continuing dangerous behavior on the field. Smith tackles was a text book horse-collar tackle, he grabbed the guy by the neck of the jersey, and he pulled the guy down from behind. _________________

Im not defending the guy and or arguing against the system, i was just putting the fine in context with what his weekly salary is. |
